AIBU?

To say no to courier.

Amazon courier just asked to use the loo. I was alone in the house with a baby. I said no and immediately dropped a note to Amazon to say I wasn't impressed that it made me feel uncomfortable.

I feel a bit bad now...remind me that I did the right thing please?!

I would have said no too

Nope. You don't have to let anyone in, especially if you're feeling vulnerable. There are plenty of places that the guy could go to the loo, such as supermarkets. It's what I do when I'm out in the road abd in sure he could do the same. Don't feel bad for protecting your boundaries.

Posted too soon, he shouldn't have asked you, there are plenty of petrol stations with toilets that he could use, there's no way I'd have let him in, don't feel bad, you were right

You were right not to let him in. In our society in this day and age, unfortunately it is a risk that's not worth taking.

Would have said no too. But we are right next to retail park and most shops have a toilet so point them there.

I don't think you did the right thing at all. Poor courier.

I think the odds are he is honest and just needed a wee but the no just came straight out of my mouth! I didn't even apologise for it.

I know he should never have asked -..

How did he react when you said no?

I don't think contacting Amazon was necessary

I don't blame you for saying no, but think it was mean to complain

People on MN always seem so terrified! No answering the door when it's dark, now not letting someone go to the loo!

Just be kind. Think how you'd feel if you were desperate for the loo.

He just said ok and walked off.

Thymelord would you really just let a stranger into your house and upstairs to your bathroom?

Think I would have said that I wasn't really comfortable with it and said sorry. Might have offered him a bush in the back garden!! Complaining seems mean though. When you got to go, you got to go!!

ThymeLord · 08/01/2017 16:31

Yes I would without hesitation. I don't hear of many amazon couriers asking to use the loo then murdering the occupants of the house.

YANBU to say no but I don't know why you complained. That was mean.

Report
anannoyinglylongusername · 08/01/2017 16:32

I made amazon aware as I thought it might prevent someone more vulnerable being put in the same position

Him, I mean, not you.

What the fuck?!

Why on earth would you complain about somebody asking to use the loo?

Bloody hell!

Motherfuckers · 08/01/2017 16:33

I probably would have let him, but think it is fine just to say no. I think you are completely ridiculous to complain though, just how much time do you have on your hands to be so petty?

Report
UpWithPup · 08/01/2017 16:33

Fine if you don't want to let him in, but mean of you to complain about him though! I don't see a problem with him asking, especially if he was alright about you saying no.

Hope he hasn't lost his job- Amazon are pretty ruthless.
