Bf and I broke up yesterday as I found out he had cheated on me sad

Feel like my heart has been ripped out and emotionally I am a wreck, crying most of the day etc.

At the moment though what is really affecting me is the physical things, I feel so sick, like a have a lead weight in my stomach which is making me not eat, which is making me feel more sick etc. In the last 24 hours I have had about 10 spoonfuls of soup and half a yogurt, I honestly could not force down any more than that, tried to eat a banana took one bite and almost threw up!

My whole body is shaking, especially my hands, probably from the hunger and my chest aches like I've been punched. Have extremely bad headaches from all the crying and I got about 3 hours sleep last night!

Now I know that the only thing that can really heal me is time and I just have to wait for it to pass so to speak but can I ask the doctor to give me anything to help with the physical stuff in the meantime? I was planning to see the doctor anyway to get a check up for sti's etc so thought maybe I should ask while I was there?

Honestly feel like I wouldn't feel quite so shitty if I could get some rest but at the moment I cant sadPart of the reason I couldn't sleep last night was because my stomach hurt so much sad

I don't want to take anti-depressants because I know this is only temporary and it will pass but if I asked for sleeping tablets or something to help the nausea would they give it to me? I know there's no pill for a broken heart sadly but I'm worried I won't be able to look after the kids for long in the state I'm in I can hardly stand up straight sad

Sorry to hear you are suffering thanks

You know it already but the best cure for sickness/nausea as a result of hunger is to eat. Go and make a piece of dry toast and just have a little bite. Then another in ten minutes, and so on.

erin99 Thu 26-Jun-14 08:49:35

You poor thing. I think MaidOfStars is right though. I used to make a piece of toast, cut into quarters and quarters again to make 16 tiny pieces. Eat one, try another 10mins later or so.

Also if you normally drink tea and coffee, and you haven't today, that might be making you feel weird and headachey. If you don't fancy it, how about trying it without milk, or have a coke?

You poor thing - what a shock that must have been.

I think telling the doctor what's going on with you would be a good idea, but there isn't going to be much they can do to overcome the side effects of not eating - what you really need to do is eat. Could you muster up some enthusiasm about your absolute favourite food? Or a treat that you would normally limit yourself with? Even having something like a proper cocoa made with milk will help line your stomach a little and might make you feel well enough to manage something else.

I hope you feel better soon, and there's plenty of room for you to vent on here if it would help to get it all off your chest! thanks cake

Sorry to hear you feel so crap after finding out something so awful.

Try motilium for the nausea and nytol to help you sleep, or there's a company called thisworks that makes an amazing deep sleep pillow spray that has worked a treat for me when I'm having bouts of insomnia. It's not cheap but it is fantastic. Twinning a make a great lemon and ginger tea that might help settle your tummy (and it's very nice, not like some other teas).

Eat little and often, things easily digested.

Sleeping tablets are not a good idea for this. I hope you feel better soon flowers

I doubt there is anything a doctor could give you and even if there was i doubt you would be given it. You broke up just yesterday, this is not an ongoing problem 24 hours of feeling sick does not warrant sleeping tablets or sickness meds.

You feel sick because you are upset and you haven't eaten. I'm not saying that eating a slice of toast will make all the pain go away but it will stop you from feeling so nauseous and weak. Plenty of fluids will help with the headaches too.

I know you must feel awful right now and I don't blame you but this WILL pass. Eat little and often and sip plenty of water. I hope you feel better soon thanks

im so sorry for what has happened to you. i think you just need to give it time. you are heartbroken right now and everything you describe is just that and pills won't take that away. i can't eat when im upset and it can last weeks for me so i feel your pain.

Just the thought of eating anything at the moment is making me feel horribly sick sad

Just want to lie in bed and cry and sleep and just wake up when it's all over and it doesn't hurt anymore sad

I cried in a shop today, the salesman gave me a hug smile Felt so embarrassed, how long will it be before I can go out in public without bursting into tears?

I find nibbling a ginger biscuit helps nausea.

The Bach Flower Remedies have a 'Rescue Remedy' specifically for night time. You can get it in Boots.

Pancakeflipper Thu 26-Jun-14 11:29:35

I don't think medication will help (unless you have other physcial or mental issues).

You can help yourself with deep breathing exercises.
Exercise helps
Do the soothing oil burners/candles (lavender apparently soothes)
Try to eat a little rice and chicken
Drink water regularly

Have you got friends to help you?

macdoodle Thu 26-Jun-14 11:29:56

I feel sorry for you and have been on the other side of a cheating husband and pregnant OW. So don't think I don't get it. But the doctor really ? No wonder the NHS is in meltdown, go to a STD clinic, sleep, heal, talk to friends, but this is just not a medical problem in any way.

That's because you have barely eaten anything. Having an empty stomach will always make you feel sick. Think of morning sickness, what's the best way to treat it? By eating little and often and not letting your belly get empty. Same applies here. You may feel sick whilst trying to eat but once you have something in your stomach i can assure you that you will feel much much better.

KirjavaTheCat Thu 26-Jun-14 12:16:19

Eat, even if it's just a little something, and cuddle your children. They're all that matters.

You don't need a cheating prick in your life, you are better than that.

extremepie Thu 26-Jun-14 13:33:12

I know that I just need time so it hurts so much sad Don't know what to do with myself, feel totally lost sad

DieDeutschLehrerin Thu 26-Jun-14 13:41:43

Sip some Lucozade or Lemonade. Hope you feel much better soon.

extremepie Thu 26-Jun-14 13:59:48

Fruit and veg seems to be going down a bit easier, been nibbling on snacky carrot batons and watermelon :/

Flipflops7 Thu 26-Jun-14 14:09:43

A little bit of chocolate might help as you are dealing with shock. Shouldn't need to medicate. Sorry you are going through this, it is horrible.

kali110 Thu 26-Jun-14 14:18:02

Try quiet time or quiet life cant remember what they're called.
They're natural sedative, they really work.
Think if youre having a checkup for stis anyway which is a good idea, no harm in asking for advice.
When i was away from home a doc prescribed sleeping tablets day after id broken up with my long term bf. however i was in bad state of depression and a complete state so that may have been a reason.

kali110 Thu 26-Jun-14 14:19:17

Really hot sweet tea is good also

extremepie Thu 26-Jun-14 15:03:09

This is exactly how I feel right now sad

I'm crazy for feeling so lonely
I'm crazy
Crazy for feeling so blue
I knew you'd love me as long as you wanted
And then some day
You'd leave me for somebody new

Why do I let myself worry?
What in the world did I do?

Oh, crazy
For thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying
And crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving you

Crazy for thinking that my love could hold you
I'm crazy for trying
And crazy for crying
And I'm crazy for loving

hellskitty Thu 26-Jun-14 16:27:41

I would see the doctor

softlysoftly Thu 26-Jun-14 16:33:54

I don't think this is something to make a gp appointment about.

sleep, eat, get an sti check.

WitchWay Thu 26-Jun-14 16:43:28

I'm afraid the GP can't really offer anything except sympathy. Tablets won't help. How you are feeling is completely normal; in time it will pass. sad
