dating - wish courting would make a comeback

making love - bleurgh, just say having sex

shag - very rude word when I was young

Slacks (instead of trousers)

I agree. I don't like frock or maids a courting.

OMG you're so right about 'frock'

It's the most old fashioned gag inducing word that reminds me of pantomime Dames Confused

I like frock but hate 'feminine'. The very act of typing the word makes me want to vomit.

Frock is right up there with gusset as cringeworthy words.

Frock is a superb word! yabvvvvvvvu

Report
hazeyjane · 27/08/2011 10:51

oh and even worse if the frock is 'pretty' and the gusset is 'moist'

when I was little, frock was very much in use (1960's), but by the time I had hit my teens, it had become completely cringy - I remember a friend of mine berating her mother for daring to use the word Grin, On the other hand we used words like, grotty, cruddy, gizzardy, etc. which sound extremely dated now.

Slacks makes me think of old men, golf, and polyester.

I would use frock ironically now, as in 'Ooh you've got your posh frock on' said in a comedy voice. Grin

I love frock, courting and making love. I am not even very old. Maybe I should have been from the 50s

The word frock always reminds me of my gran (she's the only one I knew who used it as an everyday word) and she would say it in her fab lancashire accent.....

so YABU!!!

I despise the word Ditsy. Why use that to describe what is usually a pattern on womens clothing? It means stupid and scatterbrained for gods sake. Why would that be a good association to make for 21st century womens clothes? Angry

And cupcake. It's fairy cake, face it.

I like frock and pinny, I don't like trews. My lovely mum tells me often that she's got a new pair of trews.

frock is great when used in the sentence "I look like a pig in a frock".

How can you possibly compare gusset and frock Shock frock is fabulous.

ElectricSoftParade · 27/08/2011 11:11

Don't mind frock but cannot tolerate panties

Report
Birdsgottafly · 27/08/2011 11:13

Rip- i had forgotten 'trews', my mum would often go shopping for a new pair of trews or slacks, my nan used to say 'why don't you buy yourself a nice frock instead and some stockings'.

I had Sindy dolls and my nan would make them a new frock every week.

My mate's Mum still calls her husband's socks 'stockings' Shock

I must say it conjours up a strange and unwelcome image in my head Blush

perfumedlife it's not cupcake or fairy cake, it's bun. Grin

But surely fairy cake and cupcake are two very different things.

YANBU I hate the word frock! And slacks for trousers.

Report

I have an irrational dislike of the words 'shoe' and 'laugh'.

I'm not keen on 'moist' either.
