Is it ludicrous to want a pet monkey?

Hi all,
I have watched the video of the monkey being reunited with the individuals who saved it, and it was so cute, and now I love monkeys and want one. Am I being absurd? The sensible part of my brain would never get one, but the (bigger) reckless part of my brain would. I know it's not feasible, but my heart has been stolen by monkeys. What do I do?

Yes it's ludicrous

Just don't. Once a monkey reaches sexual maturity they become aggressive and would make your life hell. And it wouldn't be fair on a monkey to live indoors - they are wild animals. Step away from the monkeys!

Yes it's ludicrous and unfair on the animal
There should not be a pet trade for exotic animals like that

What are you? Three?

Get yourself a ferret. Same amount of smell and mess that a monkey would make.

Yes, ludicrous. Just because certain animals are cute doesn't mean you have to own one.

Yes, it is ludicrous, not to mention cruel. Monkeys are NOT pets.

Not ludicrous to want one at all.

Bat shit crazily, irresponsibly ludicrous to actually get one.

This sounds like something Villanelle would do. Just no.

Great idea, OP. I'd go for a gorilla if I were you. A big macho silverback. The two of you will get on great in your three bed semi.

Ask yourself where Bubbles is now and see if it’s a good idea.

Haha, I know I'm being stupid, but I love animals.

Anyone who really loved animals wouldn't want a pet monkey. In the 1960s Harrods used to sell lion cubs, which seems more than a little crazy now!

Stick with youtube videos to scratch that itch.

We tried to rescue an elephant but couldn't get it through the front door, so we got a couple of kittens instead.

@Quintella I really love animals, I just thought that it would be a nice pet because they are so intelligent.

It’s just so arrogant of the human race to think they can keep an animal for entertainment just because it is intelligent.
