November Daily Practice

Early start to a yoga filled day. 1.5hr Sivananda practice, really great connection of body and breath. Later on I’ve got an hour long El Dios de la Muertos embodied class.

I enjoyed using mudras in October and will continue, other than that my aims for November are working on balance, and letting go.

@Jumbojem yes, me teaching it. I needed to think of something that might appeal as I live really rurally and the one other local (experienced) teacher has unexpectedly ramped up the quantity of her generic classes as soon as she found out I’d qualified.
It’s reassuring to know you think it might be enjoyed, it’s something I’m pretty passionate about as yoga improved my health so much. I’m also planning some Yoga for Menopause (early, pre, post and medical) workshops (yoga, meditation, maybe chanting, homemade cake and good tea).

Lovely hatha shoulder opening hour class, with chanting, lovely body scan savasana and pranayama meditation.

Have a bad head cold so only meditated yesterday. Today I did a couple of hours of Hatha and felt much better for it.

Good luck with the classes @Poisonwood
Still plodding through Charlie Follows, Day 13 today so not even made half way yet. Enjoying it though, but crumbs is she graceful! She did a slo mo demo of moving from down dog to lizard the other day. I can only move my leg forward if I get a bit of a push off for momentum. Then yesterday she did a very slow plank into chatarunga, all whilst talking! I'm feeling good if I have a semi controlled collapse 😂 Still something to aim for, and I am beginning to feel stronger in these moves.

@Jumbojem the thing that completely revolutionised my plank/chaturanga was regularly practicing lowering completely, and with control, to the floor. I didn’t believe that would do anything to be honest, but the teachers that recommended it were spot on - for my body anyway lol. That, and definitely moving forward a couple of inches in the plank before lowering, and really squeezing elbows in to ribs.
(Apologies if you know all this already, I live needing out on yoga lol)

Ah yes! She always says to move forwards first so your shoulders are beyond your hands. I always seem to forget that bit though but it's def getting more controlled. I have been doing yoga on and off for years and this is a beginner series but I think I'm learning a lot from taking a step back.
It also helps she's on a lovely sunny terrace. I do like outdoor practices, even though I never do outdoors myself as my garden is overlooked on two sides so people would be seeing all angles!

Lovely hour of kundalini, still full of the cold so took it easy today. Tomorrow will be classic hatha for a couple of hours.

Really enjoying hatha and also pranayama these days, I just don’t like flowing one breath one movement too much. It also gives you time to really activate and strengthen, and whilst flowing is meditative so to it staying for a while longer in each.
