November Daily Practice

Early start to a yoga filled day. 1.5hr Sivananda practice, really great connection of body and breath. Later on I’ve got an hour long El Dios de la Muertos embodied class.

I enjoyed using mudras in October and will continue, other than that my aims for November are working on balance, and letting go.

November already!
Checking in as whilst I didn't do any yoga today I am intending to get on the mat more this month.
I am still plugging away at Kassandra's yogalates, I'm up to about day 24 so not many left. Its great for someone like me who gets bored easily, lots of variety and Kassandra is so likeable. Plus lots of cats and dogs showing up!
I am thinking of trying a bit of Charlie Follows this month too, beginner ones as some of her practices are a challenge for me. I love her outdoor ones though, especially when it's dark and cold, reminds me of the spring to come!
So, the question is, can I get myself up earlier on these dark mornings to make time for yoga?!
Any signs of anyone putting out a new year yoga challenge? I did Sarah Beth last Jan.

Rummikub · 01/11/2025 23:56

long break for me. Can I join again?
A new year challenge would be great.
i think Im ready!

Poisonwood · 02/11/2025 08:05

Hi @Jumbojem and @Rummikub 👋,

You could start off by getting up a little earlier for meditation and build from there…it’s hard when you’re cosy in bed lol, but you can do meditation laying down 😉.

60 min Sivananda yoga for strength practice this morning, it’s 2nd day of a 15 day course that gets progressively harder but I can already feel it.

Added an hour of yoga for openness I sequenced for my daughter, she loves personal yoga classes from me bless her. Then did Marnie’s Yoga for Perimenopause by firelight; very calming.

An hour of yoga for strength this morning, early, and an hour slow flow class later this evening. Nice bookends for the day.

I’m jumping (back) on the daily yoga thread after almost a year of absence! Did the 7 day yoga challenge back in January then have been doing random yoga vids almost every day since.

Did Day 0 (intro so no actual yoga) and Day 1 of a 28 day practice by Yoga With Joelle. Each session is between 5 and 10 minutes long and works on a different part of the body each day which I quite like the idea of, so I’m giving it a go. Seeing as they’re so short, I might double up to get my “15 minutes a day”. Not making any promises there though Grin

I quite liked Day 1 but needed props to modify the hamstring stretches. Enjoyed the rest of it so looking forward to tomorrow’s session.

Poisonwood · 04/11/2025 01:51

Hi @15minutesaday 👋 have you done anything else of Joelle’s? sounds an interesting practice.

I did an hour of Sivananda Yoga for Strength and an hour of Katrina Marie slow flow. Then had a play around with firefly/tittibhasana.

Hi @Poisonwood - I've only done one other short yoga for digestion one of hers. Then I noticed most of her practices were under 30 mins and found this 28 day one.

Did Day 2 (head) and Day 3 (neck) today - a total of just over 10 mins. Enjoyed them both and, boy, do I no longer have a sticky, crunchy neck! It's shoulders tomorrow which should give my crunchy, sticky rotator cuff a good seeing to Grin

Poisonwood · 04/11/2025 20:25

@15minutesaday love a good shoulder opener!

Day 4 Yoga for Strength. Lovely practice, works you hard then lets you rest in Savasana and Child’s pose throughout the length of it.

OP posts:
15minutesaday · 05/11/2025 19:29

Day 4 (shoulders) done - 6 minutes. Shoulders are feeling a bit freer now. She threw in a cheeky little forearm plank which I belly-flopped to the ground halfway through so that's one to work on.

I might combine the neck and shoulders one another time as the amount of crunching and clicking going on was amazing (in a good way).

Poisonwood · 05/11/2025 22:17

That sounds lovely @15minutesaday. I find cactus arms wherever possible really helps my upper torso - I do them in a lot of warrior 1 moving them forward and back but also seated and in supine twists.

Lovely Day 5 of Yoga for strength class, included deep humble warrior (head to floor for first time ever) and crow to headstand for my first time too.

Poisonwood · 06/11/2025 19:14

Day 6 Yoga for Strength. A nice steady practice.

Poisonwood · 07/11/2025 19:08

Yoga for strength day 7, plus Katrina Marie Scorpio season kundalini. Both strong and grounding.

OP posts:
15minutesaday · 07/11/2025 20:45

Day 5 (shoulder flexibility) yesterday and Day 6 (chest) today. Both lovely practices.

I really do like the short length of them - I can just shoehorn them into my evening while the oven's on.

Doing an extra session of Yoga with Tim for digestion before bed tonight (it works every time to, err, get things moving the next day Grin )

Poisonwood · 08/11/2025 11:16

An hour flow class later, definitely not my favourite but will help the autumnal stiffness so hey ho.

Thanks for posting this. I signed up and have done day 2 for the head now. They are so nice and short. But I’m so used to Adrienne’s voice!

Poisonwood · 09/11/2025 06:57

Yoga for Strength day 8, couldn’t complete yesterday as sore arm from flu jab so done early this morning. An hour of kundalini later.

I finally finished Kassandra's Yogalates 30 day programme. Had a bit of a search on YouTube for other programmes, found searching "yoga challenge" a mistake as it brings up people filming silly "challenges", although some looked amusing not really what I was after.
So have settled on Charlie Follows beginner 30 day series to try next as whilst there was another Kassandra one and multiple YWA ones I need to mix it up or I loose motivation. I like Charlie's mainly being outdoors, especially this time of year when it's usually dark when I'm doing yoga. The cats and occasional dogs in Kassandra's was nice too.
I'm hoping if I stick to the CFs one I will be a bit stronger and can move onto something a bit more challenging. They are about 20 mins so just the extra time will be a good step up from the 10 mins of the Yogalates ones.
Has anyone tried Yoga with Tim? I think he came up as another on there with multi day programmes. I need a programme as I waste time deciding what to do otherwise, or avoid doing the ones I know will challenge me (which are the ones I need the most!).

15minutesaday · 09/11/2025 14:45

@Jumbojem yes, I do quite a few Yoga With Tim ones. I have his yoga for digestion, IBS and colitis one bookmarked. Yesterday I did his 2 most recent ones and felt quite energised and zen at the same time afterwards. He focuses on slower, deliberate movements that promote strength, which is challenging in a different way to a flow type style. He has a nice calming voice/accent as well.

His dog makes an occasional appearance too 🐕

@Rummikub you're welcome. I know what you mean about being used to the style/voice of one particular person, although I was more of a Kassandra follower previously. I'm about to do Days 7 (upper back) and 8 (arms). Should be just what I need after 3 hours spent gardening this morning.

TheVeryThing · 10/11/2025 11:43

I also need a programme to follow and having moved away from Adrienne recently, I tried Sarah Beth after a recommendation here. I've been doing her 7 day challenge, which I think is years old, but it's only 15 minutes so pretty doable.
I found it good, and appreciated less chatter, it was tough at times though.
I still can't do a proper chaturanga so am going to work on this separately.
I might try the yogalates next. It's good to mix it up but I definitely need some sort of structure.

15minutesaday · 10/11/2025 20:42

Day 10 (wrists and hands). Another short but enjoyable one. Had a nice childs pose to cobra flow in it too which clicked and cracked all my joints.

@TheVeryThing I'm rubbish at chaturanga too. After hurting my shoulder/rotator cuff trying to do it, then re-hurting it trying to do it again, I've come to the conclusion it's a pose I'll have to modify for eternity.

Jumbojem · 10/11/2025 22:07

I have now done Days 1 and 2 of Charlie Follows beginner series. Really enjoying it, she was on an outdoor terrace with magnificent sunrise I was in my lounge with a wet and dark day out the window!

Poisonwood · 10/11/2025 23:02

I’ve heard a lot of recommendations for Yoga with Tim. Sadly I don’t do well with hearing strange male voices in my home (rarely watch tv due to this) so I haven’t tried.

What got me much better at chaturanga was changing focus to lowering all the way to the floor each time, squeezing elbows in to ribs. Then got to enjoy a mini belly savasana before continuing and that felt great lol…I had a teacher recommend it and I now do in class too. I never thought I’d be able to do them!

Lovely 60min Katrina Marie Slow Flow class. Also did a practice for foreshadowing then did 30 minutes playing around with inversions and arm balances.

Well, I fell asleep in Savasana live on zoom today 😂😂 shows it was a lovely class lol. Katrina Marie vinyasa class.

Oh wow Poisonwood, you must have been very relaxed! I used to fall asleep in my in person yoga classes, they were 2 hrs long though and by the end I was quite fatigued and it was half hour at the end where she guided us through tensing then relaxing every part of the body ankles to head. We were encouraged to put socks back on and have a blanket, plus she dimmed the lights so don't think I was alone in nodding off. It was lovely, relaxing the tongue into the mouth and letting your eyes and forehead relax and spread still stick with me. Surprising how much tension gets held in the tongue/jaw.
I have day 4 of Charlie follows beginner still to do, I am looking forward to it, think I've really found my yoga mojo.
