November Daily Practice

Early start to a yoga filled day. 1.5hr Sivananda practice, really great connection of body and breath. Later on I’ve got an hour long El Dios de la Muertos embodied class.

I enjoyed using mudras in October and will continue, other than that my aims for November are working on balance, and letting go.

That sounds like a fabulous Savasana.
Good tip re chaturanga, although I am a long way from being able to lower myself all the way down. I think it's going to be a longer term goal so I am incorporating it into my general efforts to improve my upper body strength. I'll get there one day.
Started Kassandra's 30 days of yogalates this morning and think I'll carry on with that for now.

Poisonwood · 12/11/2025 18:15

That sounds an amazing Savasana @Jumbojem!

Just a meditation tonight, have run out of energy. Been a long day.

Day 11 (mid back) done yesterday. I felt some funny, non-painful, clunks in my spine doing this one and haven't had my 'funny' knee today so I wonder if those clunks were freeing something.

Day 12 (side body) done today. I loved this one so much I did it twice!

Poisonwood · 13/11/2025 09:39

Ended up doing an hour of yoga at midnight. Really helped me sleep so well after!

Wow! I have tried yoga at bedtime when I’ve not been able to sleep. It works a treat.

day 7 Noelle upper back. Nice and short. But she did sphinx then casually said you can lift your elbows up and can go further on to your finger tips! Impossible!

15minutesaday · 13/11/2025 22:57

Day 13 (abs strength) done. Wasn't as bad as the thumbnail implied Grin I'm really enjoying these short Yoga With Joelle practices so far.

@Rummikub ahh that sphinx/lift your elbows thing.... I cheated modified that and did one elbow at a time!

I love a bedtime yoga @Poisonwood especially if I find one I can do on my bed then climb under the covers for zzzzzzavasanazzzzzzz.

Rummikub · 13/11/2025 23:28

@15minutesaday aah that’s a good idea! I’ll try that rather than think wtf 😬

Poisonwood · 14/11/2025 06:53

@Rummikub you could try sliding the finger tips forward/back/wider a little.
Did Sivananda Yoga for Strength yesterday again, the time really flies.

I had to smile how my Savasana has slowly evolved: Nowadays I try to practice in front of the fire, have a sheepskin rug under me on the mat (use it for seated/tabletop asana too), a thin meditation pillow under my head, bolster my knees, big socks, a blanket and a lavender weighted eye pillow. Bliss.

Rummikub · 14/11/2025 13:10

Sounds blissful @Poisonwood

Ill try that tip too , thank you.

Day 8 arms joelle. I could only do left arm as have a rotator cuff injury. Even after 7 mins I feel more grounded. Weird!

Poisonwood · 14/11/2025 14:14

@Rummikub Yoga is Magic!

Did an hour of Yoga for strength, loved the subtle core work. Will do a bit of free flow later too, can feel I haven’t had enough yet.

Did an hour of slow Sun Sal by firelight. A beautiful moving meditation.

Day 14 (abs stretch) and Day 15 (lower back) yesterday. Thought I'd double up seeing as the weather was so completely awful.

Never saw real daylight yesterday so I'm getting togged up in the wet weather gear and heading out for a walk to the shops along the drain bank to see if/where it's overtopped. Need some fresh air!

Poisonwood · 15/11/2025 23:10

@15minutesaday you made me think of my childhood in Lincolnshire, I lived drainside. I’ve been in Scotland 30 years, we’ve no drains lol.

Lovely hour of Sivananda yoga. Links breath and movement very well.

Did 30min restorative last night, needed it.
Back to Yoga for Strength today, leaves me feeling great after.

Did a kundalini practice that felt great, and a shakti dance practice. Have ended up yoga-ing for three hours today, it’s been bliss.

Hello, I'm 7 days into Charlie Follows beginner series and still really enjoying it. Wondering if I could manage the intermediate series next!

Poisonwood · 18/11/2025 16:18

@Jumbojem go for it!!

An hour of Yoga for Strength done, it’s been really enjoyable.

Wasn’t able to do any yoga the past couple of days so caught up today. Day 16 (SI joint and pelvis), Day 17 (glutes strength), Day 18 (glutes stretch) done today after work. Quite a nice trio to do together to be honest. I think if they’d have been longer sessions I’d not have bothered. Very impressed with my Warrior 3 - managed to correct my almost fall over without putting my foot down or flapping my arms about. Not sure I got my lifted leg horizontal but I’m still claiming the win with the balance control.

Well done!

I’ve missed a couple days but jumped in with day 14 joelle. Nice apart from the sphinx to cobra by lifting elbows. She made it look effortless
I forgot to try one elbow at a time.

Poisonwood · 19/11/2025 22:10

They sound nice practices both of you. I did yoga for strength, last day of it and I’ll be repeating definitely. Then played around with an advanced hip opening practice, it did the job lol.

OP posts:
15minutesaday · 20/11/2025 22:52

Haha @Rummikub she does make it all look so effortless doesn't she! When she transitions from seated cross legged to tabletop/kneeling on all fours and she says "just roll forward to kneeling" and glides gracefully into position... well, if I do that I end up with bruised shins Shock and it's far from graceful

Day 19 (hips mobility) yesterday and Day 20 (hips stretch) today. After the balancing success of the Warrior 3 the other day, I failed miserably with the one legged knee rotation flow. Then half way through she suggests putting a hand on the wall to steady yourself - too late Joelle, too late!

Poisonwood · 21/11/2025 18:40

@15minutesaday balance, and lack thereof on any particular day, teaches so much about patience and acceptance, non-judgement, doesn’t it 🙃

An hour kriya, 30 min Charlie Follows, and an hour Sivananda.

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 22/11/2025 10:54

Lovely practice this morning, half yoga for strength half yoga for flexibility (hips). I’m looking to start a class of Yoga for Strength locally in the New Year so am practicing on myself lol

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 23/11/2025 16:40

A hard hour of power yoga. Definitely felt worked after!!

OP posts:
Jumbojem · 23/11/2025 17:40

@Poisonwood do you mean you will be teaching the Yoga for Strength class? How exciting, would love that if such a thing was available locally but sadly most round here are just "yoga" with very little description. It's semi rural so think they tend to be generic to appeal to as wide an audience as possible. But I think yoga for strength would appeal to a lot.
I am still doing Charlie Follows beginners 30 day series and really enjoying it. Only up to Day 10 as don't manage yoga every day.
