Where is this year going?!?

Going to try and increase pranayama this month. Feel I need the grounding.

Today I’ve done the first of Marnie’s osteoporosis practices, Foot to Crown, it’s such a lovely one, and then 10 min full complete breath just before Shavasana.

@PatienceOfEngels easing your hips is such a relief!
@Stepbreathesweep Charlie Follows is great isn’t she. The first time I managed a headstand was on the spur of the moment in a practice of hers and it worked.

I’ve done an hour and a half of classical Hatha yesterday and also today and they really tired me out. In a good way, but still it was a good kick to my ego 😂. You think you’re fit and then you do a practice that shows there’s still, and always is, a lot more to go…love that. It was the holding each position for longer that did it I think.

Yes @Poisonwoodshe is pretty ambitious!! I've not managed a headstand yet. I've mastered crow pose this summer which I'm chuffed about.

Did a nice 20 min morning flow this morning so feeling good. Need to find a good 10 mins early morning video to get me up. Am a teacher so am up at stupid o'clock during term time. My plan is to do that as soon as I get up and then another short one at the end of the day whilst I'm cooking tea for the kids.

@Stepbreathesweep sounds a good plan! I tend to do Sun As and Sun Bs in the weekday mornings whilst kids are getting dressed, I then don’t have to think much!

40min YWA yoga for the spine today plus an hour of playing and practicing sequences for my classes in October.

Lovely 1hr 40min class. Really gave time for every part of it to soak in. Tired now but in a good way. I was tempted not to do it as not feeling that upbeat/energetic but I’m glad I did.

Just tried Yoga with Kassandra for the first time! I did a minimal cues session & really enjoyed it. Lovely to have a little bit of quiet first thing this morning. 😌 Have a good day everyone!

Poisonwood · 27/08/2025 18:39

@Stepbreathesweep minimal cue ones are great.

Did 1hr 20 min vinyasa class. Got the hang of Twisted crow, can remember trying months ago and thinking there is no way my body can do that…it’s actually easy all of a sudden 😆

1hr kundalini…loved the polarity of effort and ease.
1hr 20 Hatha, very mindful. Definitely prefer the longer timing so the meditation and relaxation are key components.

Early morning mindful and slow Sun As and Bs.

Really struggling to get on the mat with everything happening at home/work right now. this week has been crazy, and of course it's when I need yoga the most.

Will take the time to practice for myself this evening. maybe outside if it doesn't rain (still very summery here!).

Poisonwood · 29/08/2025 19:43

@PatienceOfEngels we’ve had the fire on this easy and I’ve done yoga by it, very calming. I hope you’ve had a chance to find the peace of your mat.

1hr 30 Vinyasa class, nice long Savasana and Nidra at end.

PatienceOfEngels · 30/08/2025 06:40

It rained, I did not get to the mat. But I have almost zero plans this weekend now and will make some time.

Poisonwood · 30/08/2025 13:10

@PatienceOfEngels a weekend with no plans may be a great reset energy-wise.

1hr 20 min vinyasa class, feeling it in a content-tired kind of way.

Went for a rest and restore session first thing this morning. Felt luxurious. Since practicing everyday for the last 6 weeks I think I need more of a challenge from a class. Going to try a different one next time.

PatienceOfEngels · 30/08/2025 13:40

Back on the mat! Did my day 7 from Breath. I know Day 8 is very chill so will definitely fit that in somewhere.

Poisonwood · 30/08/2025 20:41

@Stepbreathesweep that sounds a good plan. It’s finding your best balance of practices with curiosity isn’t it, and accepting that can and will change over time.

@PatienceOfEngels ahh I’m pleased!

I did Sarah Beth 30min Shine power video as an extra, was lovely with lots of Wild Thing and also Bird of Paradise. Will do the 60min version again soon too I think.
I also came down out of headstand slightly sideways unexpectedly and crashed in to a den the kids had left up for playing with tomorrow…hidden under the soft layers of blankets was a hard chair so now I’ve a large bruise and swelling on my leg. I’m calling it a grr-kids-injury rather than a yoga injury 😂

YWA Root chakra practice. Feel like I would benefit from grounding focus. Also played around with one legged wheel and headstand and twisted crow.
