Where is this year going?!?

Going to try and increase pranayama this month. Feel I need the grounding.

Today I’ve done the first of Marnie’s osteoporosis practices, Foot to Crown, it’s such a lovely one, and then 10 min full complete breath just before Shavasana.

Did Breath day 1 yesterday. Very slow paced but just what I needed to slow myself down and take my time. Last week of holidays for me so need to make the most of having time and headspace to yoga every day and work out a plan for fitting it in everyday once I'm back to work.

PatienceOfEngels · 11/08/2025 18:51

Breathe Day 2 today. I think I remember it being harder on the wrists than True (can feel them today!)

Poisonwood · 11/08/2025 19:56

Haha I did Breath as well today!

Misses a day then 10 mins from Apple Fitness, enjoyed the instructor . I’m hoping to get back to the mat this evening when it’s cooler, I get very wobbly in the heat so have to be careful

PatienceOfEngels · 12/08/2025 15:20

She goes so much slower in Breath which I think is why I find it so hard! Day 3 done.

PatienceOfEngels · 12/08/2025 15:21

I hate this heat too @Yogachick . Spent a few hours at the outdoor pool earlier with the kids - good exercise and nice to cool down. Not looking forward to the next 2 days.

I thought I was having my first ever full blown hot flush in the middle of the night last night…realised when I woke properly that the weather had just turned properly warm which is bizarre in my part of Scotland the last few years…I had actually gone to bed with standard pyjamas, winter quilt and a hot water bottle no wonder it felt like a hot flush 😂.

60min Hatha practice, I do love some non-flow work at times!

Sun A/Bs this morning, pranayama for ages this afternoon. A nice day.

Did Breath day 4 yesterday. Very gentle, appreciated in the heat. 34 degrees here!

Poisonwood · 14/08/2025 18:54

That’s hot @PatienceOfEngels. I’m sat in a jumper here, and thinking about a hot water bottle tonight.

60min vinyasa class tonight. New flow (we have one for 4-6 weeks) so will have to concentrate!

I absolutely loathe summer @Poisonwood ! Much prefer autumn and spring.

Struggled through Breath day 5 with 2 fans on me yesterday. Did skip the last moves as I was done. Thankfully it cooled down a bit last night so trying to get the house cooler this morning before it ramps up again this afternoon.

Planning to do Breath day 6 today.

Poisonwood · 16/08/2025 08:23

@PatienceOfEngels I love Autumn-time so much I named my daughter Autumn! Luckily it comes early to Scotland, we’ve already picked loads of blackberries and had our first crumble last night. Yum.

Yesterday I did a really lovely 45min Slow Burn Sarah Beth practice that I’d missed, this morning I did an hour more of her power practices then worked on my chaturanga even more…it’s the thing I’m least looking forward to teaching.

Talking of teaching…I’m subbing for my teacher all of October! A beginner’s class, a power and a Vinyāsa class each week. Nervous is an understatement - my plan was to start in January!

60min Sarah Beth power, BURN, then treated myself to a long Shavasana with bolster under knees…bliss.

ive done a couple of 20 min practices on Apple Fitness. Really enjoyed them, definitely depends on the teacher

Poisonwood · 18/08/2025 22:37

@yogachick have you ever tried the downward dog app?

Did a 60min beginners class as warm up for 60min Ashtanga. A great evening.

Sarah Beth level 2 Warrior practice. Plank work was hard, but felt great at end.

45 min Twist Flow with Marnie this morning, she’s always great and I’m so pleased there’s another video from her today, then this evening a lovely vinyasa flow hour that was only Easy Sun As and Sun As but done with intuitive movement incorporated and it was an enormous connection with the breath. More meditative than any asana practice I’ve ever done, and yet got me puffed out nicely too.

Enjoy. I’ve been hospitalised with a prolapsed disc yesterday , am home but can only walk for about a minute atm x

PatienceOfEngels · 22/08/2025 05:44

Oh no @Yogachick . Wishing you a speedy recovery (though know that's not likely with back problems 😪 currently have 2 friends out with back problems).

First week back at school here for me and kids and completely out the habit apart from some self guided stretches Tuesday.

My hips feel really tight and as always my pelvic floor plays up when I'm anxious and stressed so going to trawl my playlists for something to ease them this weekend.

Poisonwood · 22/08/2025 18:00

Oh no @Yogachick!! I hope you heal quickly.
@PatienceOfEngels the first week back feels so topsy turvey doesn’t it.

I’ve just done a 30min yin practice, feel Bleurch.

Hello! I have been AWOL for sometime. Busy time with DC getting exam results/making decisions. Also, truth be told, I just felt really jaded with yoga. I think I'm going to cancel SB app, think someone else said the same. I just feel I must do SB as I pay for the app and I got a bit hung up on having to complete the calendar.
What I have realised is I enjoy a variety of yogis and following just one means all their little sayings or their preferred poses/flows starts to feel dull.
I actually started having a real hankering for Adrienne and Kassandra. Is downdog any good, or any apps with a variety of yoga teachers/styles to stave off my boredom?
I started out my yoga journey many many years ago before YouTube and apps. So in person or a dvd were the only choices and I used to do a 2hr class once a week. Even as a 20 something 2 hrs of yoga was tiring! However, there is a new studio opened next me which has early morning yoga and I am thinking of doing in person classes over the winter for the first time in years. I feel like having the guidance, and accountability, over the window might help my motivation. It will also stop me dithering about which practice to do.

Poisonwood · 23/08/2025 06:39

Hi @Jumbojem 😊

I completely get the feeling jaded with particular teachers after a while. I think you’d love the in person class, go if you can!
At the moment, I’m enjoying YoginiMelbourne, Arianna Elizabeth, and Brett Larkin on YouTube, give them a try.

Just spent 20 minutes doing a mix of poses to try to ease up my hips and pelvic floor. Not quite as zen as doing a good flow but definitely what I needed!

Stepbreathesweep · 24/08/2025 18:01

Just found this post as August draws to a close! Have been trying to do yoga everyday and just finished the 30 day challenge on Charlie Follows. Really enjoyed it (even though some of the postures were waaaaay out of my reach!!). It was be lovely to see some other yoga videos as we come into Autumn. Hopefully it'll keep me motivated!
