Where is this year going?!?

Going to try and increase pranayama this month. Feel I need the grounding.

Today I’ve done the first of Marnie’s osteoporosis practices, Foot to Crown, it’s such a lovely one, and then 10 min full complete breath just before Shavasana.

Checking in! August is usually a good yoga month for me. Tail end of summer holidays and starting the new school year with good intentions.

Poisonwood · 02/08/2025 10:50

Lovely, fiery practice straight out of bed this morning. YWA Empower series. Took a while to unstiffen but great start to the day 💪. Useful to do before the shower as the jumping jacks definitely built up a sweat and got my heart working 😆. Will do some pranayama before bed.

Just got out the car after a 6 hour journey home so will definitely get on the mat later (when not surrounded by bags, shoes and washing!).

PatienceOfEngels · 02/08/2025 18:35

YWA True day Be Aware (24 mins).

Poisonwood · 02/08/2025 22:03

@PatienceOfEngels that’s a long journey, I bet the yoga felt good after!

YWA True day 26 Be Still (24 mins). Had to push myself to get to the mat today but glad I did!

Poisonwood · 03/08/2025 21:50

Did a shoulder and neck practice, all seated. Then a variety of pranayama techniques for YTT. A nice, gentle day.

YWA True day 27 Be Free (20 mins). Nice flow.

Realized during yesterday's practice that my right nostril is partially (almost completely!) blocked. Think it's been like that a while. not sure if there's anything I can do or if I should see my GP.

Poisonwood · 04/08/2025 09:52

@PatienceOfEngels you could try sitting over a bowl of hot water with a towel around you, that steaming method works wonders. Wee bit of Vicks in too…if that doesn’t cure it there’s a definite problem lol

Did a Brett Larkin power yoga class. Enjoying morning practice.

got over excited last month as got 3 months free apple fitness +, so had a play, did too much yadda yadda. I thought I wanted music with my yoga, which it is has, just what I THOUGHT I wanted. Turns out I don’t,missed Adriene, even though she can be irritating. @Poisonwood reminded me of Empower which I did many years ago, really enjoyed it. Then Recalibrate hit the spot , I love the Ritual series. So I’ve joined for a year,as I keep joining for a month, stopping then coming back. Will be more economical. Also cancelled SB membership as haven’t used that recently. I was offered 50% off my subscription- an amazing offer, but I just wasn’t using it. The one breath one movement and dragonfly all the time has just given me the ick,so sad when it started so well.
So that’s me, a day behind with Ground completed this morning. I’ll endeavour to catch up . Good to see the stalwarts are here, encouraging me to stop twatting around. See you tomorrow x

Poisonwood · 05/08/2025 16:24

Hey @Yogachick good to see you’re enjoying your yoga. I know what you mean about the one breath one movement, there’s been a few times recently where I’ve been in the middle of a (slower) flow from someone else and found myself so relieved it’s not one breath one movement…I rarely use SB these days even though I do like everything else about her.

I did a lovely Brett Larkin (am going to start shortening to Uplifted) Energising Morning Flow that incorporated kundalini, it was definitely energising but also really balancing/grounding.

Skipped yesterday day. Today YWA True day 28. Almost done with True! (I always skip day 30). Think I will do Breath starting Friday.

Poisonwood · 06/08/2025 20:13

I love Breath @PatienceOfEngels, enjoy.
I did some Brett Larkin this morning then a great, newish, shoulder/hip one by Arianna Elizabeth, recommended by my best friend, with imaginative sequencing that really hit the spot.

I think I got to 3 wks with Breath @PatienceOfEngels which is amazing for me,so I know I enjoyed it,I hope you do x
I’ve done days 1&3 from the calendar, then yesterday was Stretch from Ritual series.

PatienceOfEngels · 07/08/2025 08:02

I should search the yoga threads from last year to see which YWA programs I liked and which I didn't! I know I enjoyed Breath. I think I found Revolution hard going. Can't remember Home or Move very clearly. I liked Flow when I did it live a few years ago as the practices were all under 20 minutes I think.

Yogachick · 07/08/2025 10:25

Ritual Core,on my favourites now🤩

Poisonwood · 07/08/2025 15:51

Ooh I’ll try that one @Yogachick. @PatienceOfEngels have you tried Breathing Room?

Did a shoulder/hip Brett Larkin practice today, I do like how she keeps a focus on breath.

My exciting news is I’ve booked to do my Yin Yoga Teacher Training at an Ashram abroad at Easter! Completely out of my comfort zone - strangers and abroad lol (not been for 26 years and never been alone.)

OP posts:
PatienceOfEngels · 07/08/2025 17:36

Is that a site/platform @Poisonwood ? (google is just showing my loads of yoga studios in the US called Breathing Room!)

Poisonwood · 07/08/2025 21:15

@PatienceOfEngels its a Yoga with Adriene list

Oh, I see, it's on her website. I don't subscribe! Only use her YouTube courses (and purchase some of her 30 days series to download).

Skipped yesterday. Hoping to get a double in today!

Poisonwood · 08/08/2025 17:03

@PatienceOfEngels I got a great deal Black Friday last year and have to say it’s a very active yoga community and usually feels a genuinely nice place in the ether…as well as lots of practices, plus extra teachers who are also really good. I’ll get it again this year, and I don’t like spending money 😆

Today hour long Arianna Elizabeth Intermediate power. Feeling a little stronger after being run down recently, but I clearly need to build fitness back up. I can’t expect to be able to teach if I can’t speak coz I’m puffing with exertion lol.

30 min Sun A/B and variations flow. Peaceful.

OP posts:
PatienceOfEngels · 10/08/2025 08:02

@Poisonwood I have so many subscriptions that I don't use properly I can't justify another one until I cancel something else!

Finish True with day 29 yesterday (I hate the day 30s where she doesn't talk at all as I find myself constantly looking at the screen and can't get any peace/flow).

Going to start Breath today. Day 1 is a long one (48 minutes).

Yogachick · 10/08/2025 08:14

@PatienceOfEngels I’m with you on not liking day 30, for the same reason.
I was Ritual Detox last night. I’m trying to do strength/cardio in the morning and yoga in the evening

Poisonwood · 10/08/2025 21:17

Practice teaching classic Sun As, Easy Sun As and Sun Bs. Got very warmed up lol
