Started the Sarah Beth 30 day challenge in the morning, then did an hour of power yoga in the evening. Meditation in bed.

2 hours of yoga - YWA Prana Day 1 plus SB 30 day practice, plus an hour and a half of Pow/Yin. Very relaxed now 😆

Sounds good @Poisonwood !
Calm meditation/10 min SB/day 6 of Light. Adriene’s cueing not great, I had to keep checking the screen& even then her words weren’t what was showing, tad frustrating & can’t help comparing with SB. There was crow in Day 6, years ago I found it easy, couldn’t even get a toe off the ground today😢

Calm meditation/Sb for flexibility & strength( great 10 mins)/Day 4 of Light Throat Chakra, plough, shoulder stand & fish in here, a rare appearance for those asana, I do like them

Just realised this should have been Day 5 of Light🙄

Poisonwood · 16/01/2025 04:59

@yogachick can you reframe it in your mind that you’re glad you had the opportunity to do crow when it was available to you, even though it’s not at the minute? I’d love to have been able to do it even once, it’s fascinating how different all our bodies are.
I really found the cueing (and chat) difference noticeable yesterday as have not done any YWA for a while. I like as much peace as possible.

I am full of admiration for those of you doing self practice at home.

I have toe news - this morning in class I rolled over my toes!! Since the chat upthread I've been thinking about it, but its not something I've been able to do. No rush I thought.

We have stand in on Thursday morings as the usual teacher is away. Her classes are at a slower pace than usual and I enjoy taking my time getting in and out of asanas a bit more. This morning I got properly into updog in a vinyasa and I rolled over my toes to get into updog and then into downdog! It just happened. Amazing.

It seems toe rolling is one of those things that thinking about doesnt really help, but if you body is in the right shape it can happen.

Yogachick · 16/01/2025 12:00

Well done on the toe rolling @RobinEllacotStrike ! I’ve yet to try!
That’s definitely a better way of framing my thinking @Poisonwood ! Particularly today when I’m still struggling with fibro but managed Calm & 10 min SB. It’s the last day of Light but suspect that’s too much for me today

Poisonwood · 16/01/2025 13:09

@RobinEllacotStrike that’s great re the toes! I think you’re right, when your body is at the right stage it feels secure doing it…also, I’m pretty sure I also did my first one in a slower version.

@Yogachick stop whilst you’re ahead. My children’s teacher is really big on this, finish anything whilst everyone still has energy, even though it’s tempting to do the nice thing a little longer, a little longer, it’s never wise.

Have done the SB 10 min then an hour of power. I managed to touch my raised leg in 3-legged dog to my elbows for the first time…so, so different to when I started yoga! Very grateful for regaining my strength, I’m far stronger now than I have been for twenty years.
I also felt brave and did my first ever practice for crow, @Yogachick thanks to you…I don’t think it will ever actually come fully but I managed to get one foot up and that makes me smile so I’ll keep persevering.

Poisonwood · 17/01/2025 21:47

30 min SB power yoga & then low back stretch this evening. Good combination.

OP posts:
RobinEllacotStrike · 17/01/2025 22:53

More toe rolling today.

I can't think about it and do it.

But if I can get into up dog I can roll my toes getting into it & out into downdog.

It feels like progress & is encouraging me to get into updog more.

Improving!

RobinEllacotStrike · 17/01/2025 22:55

@Poisonwood great work getting that leg to your elbow.

I'm just starting to be able to do that - and I can really feel the power & strength improvement in my shoulders & legs.

Yogachick · 18/01/2025 19:45

Did my first clumsy toe rolling today, that’s a tough move!
SB weight loss 10 mins from calendar& the Calm meditation is all today. Planks & chatarungas,I can definitely feel an improvement in my planks ,pleased about that ,sometimes it’s not easy to see/ feel progress

Poisonwood · 18/01/2025 19:46

@RobinEllacotStrike sounds like you are on a roll 😆😉. The toe rolls make it all much smoother don’t they! And I know exactly what you mean about not being able to do it if you’re thinking about it, I was like that for a bit too.

I had plans for a lovely power yoga day but my body had other plans, so today I did the SB 10 min weight loss video from 30 day challenge and then concentrated on deep hip openings/splits for an hour. Felt drunk afterwards 😂😂🩷.

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 18/01/2025 20:35

Well done @RobinEllacotStrike and @Yogachick on toe rolling and @Poisonwood on knee to elbow. I had a go at toe rolling this evening when Adriene invited me to take a vinyasa of my choice. I also managed two push ups and felt like I was using core strength as well as arms. Small wins but every practice adds something new.

Jumbojem · 19/01/2025 16:26

Well done on the toe rolling. I watched the video clips which were kindly shared. Still can't get my head around it and not tried it for myself but will aim to give it a go.
I did the next three of the SB 30 day series, so I've done up to Day 7. Still a way behind but aiming to do at least a couple each time and do yoga on more days. Theoretically I should be able to do 5 days a week and just miss the two days I go into the office. In reality I've got a bit lazy and it's only been 3.

Yogachick · 19/01/2025 18:21

Some is better than none @Jumbojem
Calm/10 min SB from calendar/last day of Light, not the best of them, then I’ve just done the live with SB focus on the Solar Plexus chakra, lovely

Poisonwood · 19/01/2025 22:24

@Jumbojem dont think of it as ‘behind’, you’re going at the pace that’s right for you right now.

@yogachick I’m looking forward to the Solar Plexus practice some point this week, I was working so couldn’t do it live.

Did SB for 30 min, core and hips. Tomorrow is my in-person class, I’m going to get there early to get a non-draughty spot.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 20/01/2025 16:28

The solar plexus practice was definitely a spiritual ‘shift’ for me@Poisonwood , ,SB talked about so much that resonated for me & during the practice said any version of the pose you can do brings benefit, really reframes my need for perfection or judging as a failure.
Today was neck & shoulder,a lower back one and a stretch all from the calendar. Like @Jumbojem I’m trying to do practices from earlier days in the calendar when I was doing Prana instead,as well as todays, when I’m able to do more,so I’ll do them all by the end of the month. Really loving SB atm

Poisonwood · 20/01/2025 22:17

@yogachick that sounds lovely, I’m looking forward to doing it tomorrow. I really enjoy SB, I think my body really appreciates her sequencing and I enjoy her mindset on lives/that she does them.

Yoga class today, really nice with lots of flow, chaturangas and lovely, deep hip work.

OP posts:
Poisonwood · 21/01/2025 16:57

Not feeling well, luckily did 30 min power yoga this morning before it started but not doing any more today.

OP posts:
Yogachick · 21/01/2025 18:17

Sorry to hear that @Poisonwood . Do take it easy, there’s lots of practices for when you’re sick ,if you feel up to one tomorrow x
Calm/10 min full body for strength & mobility/yoga for weight loss catch up. They packed a punch in different ways, impeccable cueing from SB as usual

Yogachick · 22/01/2025 18:05

Calm and 3x10 min SB. I used to not like doing multiple videos but Ive found it’s a great option . It’s so easy to pick them up from the app as well.

Poisonwood · 22/01/2025 21:56

@Yogachick it’s nice to do the variety isn’t it, and 3 x 10 min strangely feels less than 30 min vid in one go!

I did SB 10 min stretch for sore muscles (very helpful) but that’s it. Still feel urgh, hoping tomorrow will be better.

OP posts:
Jumbojem · 23/01/2025 09:15

I did 3 x 10 minutes from the SB 30 days today. Strangely agree, doing three separate ones send easier than one 30 minute. Maybe it's because there's more variety? This am I did lower back and hips, yoga for weightloss, deep relaxation. A lovely trio, esp with ending on the relaxation.
I'm still only up to Day 10 on the calendar though so have some catching up to do.

Yogachick · 23/01/2025 15:12

Take it gently @Poisonwood .
Am all caught up after today’s 2x10 min SB,apart from the 2 lives I haven’t done. Can definitely see how progressive this calendar is,doing today’s then going back to an earlier one. I’m hoping to do the lives but it’s a big chunk of time each time. Huge benefit every time though, very different experience to the pre recorded practices, going deeper into everything
