Started the Sarah Beth 30 day challenge in the morning, then did an hour of power yoga in the evening. Meditation in bed.

Yoga can absolutely make you strong and fit - I started a regular yoga practice (again) back in mid-November. It was really hard and I was quite weak.
On my first day we did a flow - from 3 legged dog, knee to nose, leg up, knee to elbow, leg up, knee to opposite elbow. I didn't stand a chance with any of those moves.

This morning we did those same moves again & not only did I strongly power through them, I touched my elbow with my knee & felt really strong in my arms/shoulders/back as I did so. Always room for improvement but the progress is vast and the strength improvement feels incredible.

Certainly for me dynamic/power/ashtanga styles of yoga has built muscle & strength as well as flexibility etc.

@Yogachick well done! That’s a big achievement.

@RobinEllacotStrike that's exactly my experience too. I’ve an awful memory but my seven year old regularly reminds me of poses/flows I struggled with at the beginning when she sees me doing them easily now…I like that she sees concrete evidence of the benefits of perseverance.

Today another hour of SB power, enjoying it as mid-cycle and have a little energy…periods floor me nowadays.

Good to hear @RobinEllacotStrike !
Did the meditation Day 8 sort of topping off Prana today, then the 10 min Sarah Beth from her calendar. Debating what to do next

Poisonwood · 09/01/2025 18:20

SB 10 min morning yoga straight out of bed, was a good start to the day. 60min beach bod power video this evening. A good combination. Balance on my new bedroom mat pretty rubbish, think it’s too thick for what I was doing.

Adriene meditation followed by 2x SB 10 min

RobinEllacotStrike · 09/01/2025 20:51

45 minute hot yoga this morning. It was a gentler class than usual (different teacher) but some days that's quite nice.

We did lots of balances. I have old knee & ankle injury on left so that side is tricky for me. But I can feel the muscles around both joints strengthening.

Yogachick · 10/01/2025 18:10

SB meditation followed by today from SB calendar then Day 1 Of Light from FWFG app. That one was exceptionally magical for me🌻

RobinEllacotStrike · 10/01/2025 18:15

After yesterday's quiet class this morning was very dynamic & powerful- lots of twists and balances, and quite a few asanas I've not encountered before. It was excellent!

Poisonwood · 10/01/2025 19:50

@Yogachick I really liked Light too. Enjoy.
@RobinEllacotStrike an excellent class is wonderful isn’t it!

Today I did the SB 10 min for hips/lower back this morning, lovely start to day. This evening I really enjoyed the SB 30 min Slow Flow celebrating yin/yang. I’ll do a few Sun A in a while too.

Namaste Yogis, I'm hoping to return to practice after a 5 year hiatus. Does anyone have any suggestions for guided yoga class I could do online before I venture back into a class?

Poisonwood · 10/01/2025 22:15

Hi @Tinytigertail my two recommendations are Yoga with Adriene and Sarah Beth Yoga. I know a lot of people like Charlie Follows too. Hope you find something that hits the spot.

Well done @Poisonwood.

20 minutes YWA for me, yoga for sickness relief (today’s calendar offering). A nice one with some gentle stretches.

Yogachick · 11/01/2025 20:31

Rejoined Calm so meditation from there, yoga for weight loss from SB calendar day 2 of Light, another amazing practice

Poisonwood · 12/01/2025 19:45

SB live chakra practice plus the 10 min yin video from her 30 day. Meant to do more today but ended up riding my horse more instead as weather was good.

YWA - yoga for brain power plus tomorrow's balancing breathwork practice as 12 minutes wasn't enough today.

Yogachick · 12/01/2025 21:09

Calm meditation/10 min SB/Day 3 of Light with Adriene, fiery one today but not too much!

Jumbojem · 13/01/2025 08:49

Good morning yogis! I finally finished Prana towards the end of last week. Came as a bit of a shock to realise it was the last one, just as I was getting into it. Did no yoga all weekend, there is stuff needing to go in the loft in my yoga space.

This morning I started the SB 10 minute 30 day series. I thought I'd done the first two, although I did notice the first was uploaded 10 days ago and it is the 13th. Afterwards I got the plan from her email and realised it was more like the 3rd and 4th ones, for some reason YouTube on my tablet wasn't showing me the earlier two, but my phone does?! There first (yoga for weight loss) was quite intense but the second (for tension) was lovely to round out off. I love her voice, so deep after Adrienne's, I find it quite meditative listening to her, even when she has got me hanging in a plank.

Yogachick · 13/01/2025 17:05

Calm/today’s SB neck & shoulder from the calendar then day 4 of Light, Heart Chakra. This series has changed my thoughts on YWA. It’s voiceover so no superfluous rambling & the practices are beautifully put together. SB cueing is faultless, I noticed particularly today when going into what she called the big twist, I understood exactly which arm went where to have everything arranged correctly , it’s easy with some instructors to get lost when you can’t necessarily see the screen . Just my thoughts

Poisonwood · 13/01/2025 22:14

@Yogachick that’s my thoughts on SB exactly… I often close my eyes or have the screen turned away with her videos and find the practice so much calmer, being able to follow her cues beautifully without visual input.

Today was my 1.5 hr in-person class. It went well, though was very busy, but I had accidentally chosen the one spot in the room with an awful draught and found I had back ache driving home…so I did more yoga once home, including today’s SB for neck/upper back. Feel much better now.

Yogachick · 13/01/2025 22:16

You’ll have to avoid that spot in future @Poisonwood ! SB neck & shoulder packed a lot of benefit into ten minutes, glad it helped x

OhOneOhTwoOhThree · 13/01/2025 22:27

That sounds very good. I did YWA, a proper old school Adriene yoga for weight loss arms and abs. I think I read on one of these threads that to start with she labelled her videos as yoga for weight loss to get views. Lots of planks and push ups and yogi bicycles.

Yogachick · 14/01/2025 13:56

Calm meditation/Sb for flexibility & strength( great 10 mins)/Day 4 of Light Throat Chakra, plough, shoulder stand & fish in here, a rare appearance for those asana, I do like them

Poisonwood · 14/01/2025 20:00

@Yogachick that all sounds nice.

@OhOneOhTwoOhThree I’m very fond of old stool Adriene 😊

Just SB 10 min today, walked three miles too and just feel weary. Bath, bed, then morning yoga to perk myself up I think.
