World Cup 2026

Is there any way to see the suspension of the US suspension as anything other than corruption?

I know, it's not like we don't know football is corrupt but to be quite so blatant?

Is there an explaination that isn't powerful man asked for something and got it, in return for who knows what?

Is there something in the rules somewhere that I've missed and makes this OK?

It's awful. Trump is behaving like a spoiled toddler. No insult to spoiled toddlers implied.

Tabarnak · 06/07/2026 17:28

If they put him on the pitch against Belgium, Belgium should walk off. IMO.

And surely the crowd will be vitriolic against him.

The young people in my family are refusing to watch any matches anyway because of the USA refusal to allow the Ethiopian ref into the country.

How dare Trump cast aspersions on the ref. If I was Claus I would be demanding that he apologise- or sue him.

Trump is a total embarrassment.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/07/2026 17:37

Belgium walking off would presumably mean USA wins by default, that wouldn’t be good at all.

Never2many · 06/07/2026 17:42

I honestly think that Trump is untouchable.

I think members of the public think he’s a bit of a laughing stock and an embarrassment, but the fact is that when Trump says “jump” the world says “how high.”

Nobody ever says no to him. What trump wants, Trump gets, The world just loves him.

this could still be facilitated. If the US manager had anything about him he’ll just withhold the player from the team.

It honestly wouldn’t surprise me if the US won because Trump says they will.

Hope they refused to watch when it was in Qatar too!

It’s not love, it’s an abusive power relationship.

The world does NOT love Trump. People are scared of him and appease him in the hope that they will not be next in line for his capriciousness. What’s ironic is that when people do stand up to him he goes into a sulk, backs down, and pretends it never happened. See Mark Carney and Denmark.

Infantino should stand down immediately His fawning sycophancy is nauseating.

This is why the US should never have been allowed to host the football World Cup. Grubby corruption underlies every element of their nasty society.

How much will Infantino be paid quietly after this is over?

GreenWheat · 06/07/2026 19:27

This reply has been hidden until the MNHQ team can have a look at it.

My previous reply got auto hidden, didn't realise it was a trigger phrase. I was saying that no doubt that payment will be in the dark currency that Trump has made a fortune on.....

SwedishEdith · 06/07/2026 19:33

I feel sorry for the player. This must be excruciating for him, being at the centre of this drama.

RaphaelDidIt · 06/07/2026 19:45

Yes I feel sorry for the player as well. I hope he is being supported

GrandmasCat · 06/07/2026 19:50

I think FIFA needs to be made accountable for that, if they cannot review decisions for everyone they shouldn’t be pandering to US wankers pressure.

I hope they lose big time, they don’t deserve any less.

🙄 odd thing to hope for.

Gengha · 06/07/2026 20:04

Of course it’s corruption pure and simple. It absolutely stinks. If the players valued the integrity of their sport as opposed to personal glory they and their FAs would pull them out of the competition.

NeedToKnow101 · 06/07/2026 17:44

Lots of people refused to watch when it was in Qatar

itsnotfairisit · 06/07/2026 20:06

yeh it’s a disgrace.
C’mon plucky little Belgium!

Funchythesnowwoman · 06/07/2026 20:07

@Tabarnak
He is Somalian.

Gengha · 06/07/2026 20:08

I cheer on Belgium anyway as I have Belgian heritage but for sure come on the Red Devils tonight

MeetMeOnTheCorner · 06/07/2026 20:17

@Meadowfinch Infantino is standing unopposed for another term as fifa president. Far too many countries get money from fifa, which Infantino enables. They are fools of course but that’s football!

Minasama · 06/07/2026 20:18

No.

Funchythesnowwoman · 06/07/2026 21:44

The World Cup is so tainted now by corruption and abuse.

MySneakyLion · 06/07/2026 22:15

Trump saying at his press conference that “he didn’t think it was a red card” and “I’m good at this” is so utterly ridiculous. He doesn’t even know the basic rules of football.

he is such a narcissistic sociopathic prick.

ErrolTheDragon · 06/07/2026 17:37

Yes....except that it would give the USA an opportunity to be absolutely spanked by Spain, which would be really rather amusing and get right up the orange one's nose.

Obeseandashamed · 07/07/2026 00:32

ErrolTheDragon · 06/07/2026 17:07

I just heard Trump being interviewed saying he didn’t know what a red card was until this.

He also said he knows a lot about sport in the same interview. He doesn’t know his head from his ass
