I doubt he and the other officials missed them, rather they chose to ignore them, from the small amount of the WC cup I've seen the standard of refereeing has been dire. Watch Mexico aim to take Kane out of the match from the off and they will be allowed to get away with it, the intimidation in the stadium can't be underestimated. It's been called 'South American passion' any where else it would be called cheating.

I’ve been to Mexico and Mexico City (separate trips). The latter I’d never go to again, it was mostly to see friends there (foreign language student who’d stayed with us). It was made easier by being with a local but even they didn’t like it there (both lawyers). Very polluted.

Perhaps they should open the pubs all night for that too - make an event of it 😂

I’ve got my friend Abi coming over and staying over earlier in evening and later. I just know my cat will be with me or upstairs thinking what on earth is my human up so late for? And why can’t I go out?

I am tempted to watch upstairs in my bedroom on tv there. Friend can either sleep next to me or go into spare bedroom. At least I know I’ll sleep. I can fill a cool box with ice packs and bottle of gin/tonic water/cans Smirnoff ice and Pimms I bought in Lidl earlier. Plus red bull. Ooh I’ve got vodka too, we can have that with red bull, old clubbing keep awake trick.

Dinner tonight, earlier on is pizzas, bed at 7pm. Snacks are crunchies, Lidl Aberdeen Angus crisps, tex mex dips and crackers, quorn picnic eggs and pepperami plus olives. Friend bringing popcorn, pop chips and trifle.

We are doing a two sleep experiment!
