Uefa gave that ref the supercup in August to attempt to show solidarity, and all the villa fans I know are delighted about it.

On a unashamedly note, I asked Villa to kindly write a personalised letter to my Villa loving till I die godson, who was about to undergo serious brain surgery. You know what Muraski, they sent it out the next day. They aren't my team but my respect for their staff went up hundred fold x

Thank you. He's just started to learn to walk again. That's a letter he can keep for life now.

That’s nice to hear about the football club and your godson ! hope his doing well now.
I’m sure the football clubs do loads that people don’t get to hear about on the quiet.

It sounds like a tough journey for him, I hope that the unexpected joy of this season helped cheer him on his way!

Thanks. Thats very kind of you to say. Yes I agree with that we tend to just hear the hype about footballers being overpaid, which I agree with.

Every poster who supports England and other teams is allowed to have doubts and negative thoughts. It's the men's world cup!

So far there's been no trouble at the games, though booing at the 'hydration breaks/advert breaks' amongst the stadium crowds is gaining momentum.

I shall be watching the England match in London. Thankfully it's Wednesday as I'm going to the Palladium on Thursday to see Jesus Christ Superstar!

I bloody love JCS. Which Herod?

Villa do a lot of outreach work with the children's charity Acorns, and for one season had them as main shirt sponsor for no money to raise awareness. Which was a hefty dent in the finances for a good cause. The players often visit and the club arranges all manner of stuff for them. I only know about that given it's my club, but I'm sure others do good stuff too.

I support Everton and we have Everton in the Community who do alot of great things behind the scenes.

I think every club has a version of this.

Yes, I think so. But as was previously said, it does go unnoticed often behind the rants about salaries, which are obscene...

Still, I'm glad it happens.

Hellohah · Yesterday 16:35

I think that all players have it contracted that they have to participate in a minimum number of hours for club organised charitable initiatives. This is through the PFA. So all clubs must have something.

Back to England ... Something just doesn't feel right with this squad. I hope I'm just reacting to the shit weather (general state of grumpiness) and they can kick on. I would love us to win the WC. I just don't see it happening :(

murasaki · Yesterday 16:40

Agreed the performative 'the vibe is better than at the last Euros' shtick isn't convincing. Good players, not sure it's a good team.

I'm not really bothered either way about this match. I guess I'd rather Canada won just to annoy Chump.

He is only favourable toward white South Africans, either team will annoy him.
