Freelancing while Receiving Maternity Pay?

I wonder if anyone can help me at all, or point me in the right direction of where to get more information.

I work part time in an office, where I am employed. The rest of the week I freelance working for myself. I'm recieving statutory maternity pay from work when I leave to have my baby in October, but was just wondering what the rules were on freelancing at the same time, I have some possible freelance jobs coming in after Christmas that I'd really like to do. Does anyone know what the rules are surrounding this?

Thanks in advance for your help.

I THINK that (as for employment) you can have up to 10 'keeping in touch' days - which can be used to simply work A quick google shows up this: www.forparentsbyparents.com/index.html?pn=834

I'm pretty sure that you can receive SMP from your 'employment' and still do freelance work.

"If you do any work in a self-employed capacity during your MPP, then such work will not affect your SMP"

Hi - I am set up as a limited company employing myself, so will be able to claim SMP when I go on maternity leave in Nov, and later do the 10 KIT days. Reading some of the posts above it seems I could also set up as a sole trader and do work through that channel in addition to the 10 days? If I have an easy baby of course...!
