Job websites for mums?

I have been a SAHM for six years but am now looking at going back to work at least part-time, if not full time. I was a PA/Secretary and although I have applied for quite a few jobs, am struggling to get interviews. Suspect companies are put off by the fact I have been out of the workplace for so long. Are there any websites worth looking at for mums returning to work?

You've probably heard it before, but I'd recommend voluntary work as a way of easing yourself back into the employment world. Look around for a field you're interested in - I worked for the Royal Parks a few years ago and loved it. In return for your hard work you should be able to get an up to date reference and some new friends outside of the family and school world.
It's a tough employment market out there for most of us (it was on the news today about how few graduate positions there are) so see things from the employer's persepctive and think about what you can offer them that makes you the best candidate.

Good luck! ;)

can you get in touch with your old company/colleagues and let them know you are looking.

are you on linkedin? not sure if it is relevant for your sector but search for anyone and everyone you remember! once you find one, you can search their connections for more. then you can update your profile to say "looking for a new position..."

good luck

I have looked at one called Women Like Us, which seems quite good (v Lonon-centric though)

you could try

www.workingmums.co.uk/
www.mumandworking.co.uk/

Women Like Us offer free career counselling/coaching etc (if you qualify, ie, are not earning now) but as someone said, are veru focused on London. Best of luck.
