I was so surprised to be asked for an interview it has only now occurred to me it's a bit of a long shot

I was delighted. It's a side step more than anything else. For a slightly lower salary than usual. But I thought it would be a good way move towards my desired career.

Just go. You never know what they might offer you and they might be a great company to work for.

If you don't get it it is still good experience.
