Hi my DD is 17 pregnant and doing her hairdressing apprenticeship. Can anyone tell me if I have my facts straight.

They do not have to pay Maternity pay
She can get state maternity allowance
They cannot sack her

She is desperate to stay and qualify as this is her best option for supporting her baby.

They have said they do not want to keep her on What can she do?????anyone know please....

Good for her wanting to stay and support her baby.

She has the same maternity rights as any other employee. She may not meet all the requirements for Statutory Maternity Pay, in which case her employer won't have to pay that, but she may therefore get Maternity Allowance

They absolutely cannot sack her for being pregnant, that would be discrimination, so if they do, she should appeal it on those grounds.
