Indefinate contracts

DH was on a fixed term contract in education for 6 months and has now received a letter to say that he will be appointed on an indefinate basis from a certain date.

Is this the same as a permanent contract> Thanks.

Yes.

Should point out that his employment starts from the date on which he started not on the date at which he gets the new contract (assuming no long breaks between the two).

So for redundancy payments, any perks that are time related his original joining date will be the one that counts.
