part time, term time only and tax credits....

I currently work 16hrs a week all year round

Have found a job in a school 17.5 hours a week, term time only.

Obviously I understand pay is prorata which is fine (I think I can ask for 12 monthly payments over year though) but how do Tax credits work? I need to be 16hours to claim my WTC and ChildCare element - will they say 17.5hrs term time is over 16hrs or avergae the hours over a year (in which case it will fall short)

Need to know before I apply I think......

Hi Smokinaces,
You will still get the tax credit.
I've been working 16 hours a week, term time only for the last few years and have received tax credits without any problems.
The slightly strange bit is that you still get the childcare element of tax credit during the school holidays, but I suppose in practise, there's no nursery that would allow you to stop paying during the holidays and keep the child's place.
Good Luck with the new job!
