Is it OK to ask an OU tutor for a reference?

Considering we've never actually met...?

Am doing OU on maternity, hoping to have some sort of career when DSs go to school.

I love my studies, but don't want to embarrass my tutor by asking for a reference when our only contact is by phone / email / online tutorials.

Don't have any referees otherwise though!

Often jobs require a Uni tutor reference, or postgrad studies, so I'd say there's no harm asking.

I probably have more contact with my OU tutor than I did with my tutor at a redbrick Uni ironically!

Mine have always been lovely about doing references.

I am an OU tutor and have always been happy to do references. We have a standard profroma to fill in. The references can be a little impersonal given the lack of face-to-face contact but they are perfectly good references.

Perhaps also send a brief CV and/or a little description of the other OU courses you have done so the tutor can flesh it out a bit.

Good luck!

Woo that does sound encouraging - my tutor is great actually, I think he'd be happy to oblige - but I just didn't want to make him feel uncomfortable by asking him to do something he may not have felt comfortable doing.

A reference! At last! (Well, if I do my homework..!!! )

Thanks all
