Hi,
My husband was made redundant in May 2009 and has been unable to get another job.

He cannot even get interviews!

He has been to all these jobcentre meetings, had his CV rewritten on several occasions and has applied for jobs in EVERY sector.
He tailors his CV to the specific position advertised but NEVER, ever gets an interview.

Jobs are few and far between where we live and he really does apply for every one that he is suitable for. Nothing!Nada! Zip.

He has his name on every agency, sends out his CV, even visits companies looking for positions.

Because he has been out of work so long now his original referees have left the companies they worked for and he has no idea how to contact them anymore, so now he has no referees either.

He has even tried volunteering but no one will take him.

What can he do? We are so desperate for money and cannot pay the mortgage this month as all our savings are now gone.

Have you tried www.gumtree.com? They have jobs on there and sometimes people advertise themselves for jobs.

I totally sympathise with your situation as I have been unemployed since December.

Could he possibly start his own business or do a course? Anything to break up that gap on his CV.

CrispyTheCrisp · 22/09/2010 20:16

What did he do?

CrispyTheCrisp · 22/09/2010 20:16

Oh, and where? (vague area would do)

Are you working? Are you tied to the area, or could you look to relocate? Have you made sure you have checked your full entitlement for benefits and discussed the situation with your mortgage?
