Employment Agencies

I ventured into a few high street employment agencies on Tuesday as I am seeking temporary work. I am amazed at the rudeness and arrogance of some of these recruitment consultants;- I had barely arrived through the front door of one, when I was greeted with a rather stern face and "Can I help you", as if I were about to rob them.
Question after question fired in quick succession, no pause for breath. The same type of person from agency to agency. I went home feeling quite deflated by the whole experience.
Has anyone else experienced the same thing, any views on this?

That's not good. Hardly very encouraging but unfortunately in the middle of a recession, even temporary jobs are like gold dust. I bet they have loads of applicants and not many vacancies so they would rather be on the phone chasing employers for new vacancies rather than talking to yet another applicant. It's still no excuse for rudeness though.

My husband has worked for agencies previously and also has a low opinion of recruitment consultants. He is now self-employed and rarely uses agencies. He says that they are on par with estate agents, full of themselves, arrogant and unhelpful. He has over twenty years experience in his field and they treat him kike a numpty.
