not about me, as I will return to my job after parental leave later this year.

my husband*s contract runs out next month and of course he is applying to jobs and also to companies directly. he has been invited to a number of interviews and "informal" interviews.

(he*s got an job offer already, but with quite a pay cut, so wants to go to all interviews this week before deciding...)

oh, the question: what is the difference between a "normal" and "informal" interview?

I dont think its abig difference, they just want you feel better and more relax. I once had intrview in cafe, with cup of coffee - I got the job!

I think an informal interview is sometimes just an opportunity to meet someone and see how you'd get on with them personality-wise and motivation and may have less obligation in terms of being offered a job at the end of it. Sometimes there might not be an actual job going either but they would consider creating one for the right person iyswim?

A formal interview would be more structured and more about ascertaining their skills, competancy, experience etc. They might also make you take some tests or meet multiple people from different areas of the company. And its for a definite role.
