Right, What courses do I need to do to become a teaching assistant??

I have decided that in September I am going to do a college course, or prefereably a home college to become a primary school TA. I already have GCSE's in, english literacy, numarecy and childcare.

Have a look on the tda website. Lots of useful info there.
This OU course looks like a good starting point.

The best way in would be to start volunteering in a school and get a foot in the door that way - TA positions are pretty competitive - schools would then probably support you through the qualification process and you'd have the practical experience to bring to the course.

Thanks drs, have already thought about offering my services to dc school, which is why I would prefer a home college course, so I could fit both in. Will have a lok at those links, thanks.
