Sick pay

I had a letter this am saying my full sick pay is limited to 48 days and as of 5th may I will be on half pay.letter dated 19th may.

I have only had odd days off since starting this job 18 m ago. Max5 all together until I was signed off for 2 weeks a fortnight ago and now another 2 weeks ( all pg related). Most of the last fortnight was supposed to have been leave as well and have had conflicting advice over which over rides.

I can't see work policy as I'm off and it's not in my contract how long I get sick pay for ( I thought 3-6 m as it was 6 in my last job for this council)

any advice before i phone HR on Monday?

If you work 5 days a week then 48 days on full pay is more than 9 weeks, so you shouldn't have exhausted your entitlement anyway, surely?

I work 2 1/2 days. I'm hoping its a typo but don't understand why they would write to me on my first sick note since being there.

Does holiday booked usually still count if you are off sick? Was booked off most of the last fortnight but was covered by sick note. Have been advised both ways.

Its stressing me out now and am off work due to pg problems with Blood pressure so stress isnt exactly what should be happening!

Previous job was 6 m full pay/6 m half pay but I lost my long service whilst waiting for a CRB (10 day break) so I may be back to basic which I thought was 3 m/3m

You should be able to claim your holiday back. What have your manager or HR said about that?

If you only work 2.5 days a week and have 48 days full sick pay that's more than 3 months, so even then you won't have used it all up.

Sounds like a mistake. Work out how many sick days you've had in the last year, ring HR and tell them. If they've said you get 48 days on full pay, you can tell them you haven't come close to using that up yet so should be staying on full pay for the time being.

No manager at the moment. My supervisor said no but other colleagues say yes. Don't entirely trust my supervisors knowledge either.

Going to phone HR on Monday, just trying to calm myself down for the weekend. Think I can remember 3 days off , 2 migraine & 1 pg. It will be on my flexi sheets but they are on work computer & manager will have the info from my back to work interviews but she is off as is our admin neither back for 3 weeks.

All a pita atm as I'm also due a pay rise but have to wait for manager , they have agreed to backdate though.

Spoke to HR , they havent received back to work from 10/3.They have now put me on half pay and CANNOT change it for May Spoke to my supervisor who will redo it and send it again(3rd time). Surely HR should have requested sick notes if they thought I was off that long.

Anything I can do to make them pay me? Apart from it being back dated in June? Will this affect my Mat pay as I'm in the qualifying period?

Nymphisseingstars - oh dear. Unfortunately it will affect your Mat pay, because it is calculated on money received during the period, not money earned during the period. So, if you had arrears due from March, but they were paid this week, you would get more Mat pay, for example.

However, I think there might be provision to allow for back-dating of pay rises in the period.

Nymphisseeingstars · 24/05/2010 09:53

They have said they can back date my pay rise as it cant go through without my managers approval and she is off. Don't trust them though.

Think UNion can do anything?

Spoken to union. They are looking into it...
