Where will I find my company number?

I have a small business and am looking into expanding by buying some new parts in. The rep came today and said he would need some basic details like my company number.

I'm not sure if I have one and if I do where I can find it. And what if I haven't?

Phew, what a lot of questions, I hope someone on here is in the know!

Companies House?

If you are a limited company, registered with Companies House they will have a record of your company number.
If you're not registered with Companies House the HMRC may have an identification number for your business?

If you are self employed you have UTR/URT (not sure which) number. It will be on anything the tax office send you.

Thanks for taking the time to reply. I have managed to get through to my accountant and he said I don't have one as I'm not limited. Apparently they wanted it as it is an easy way to do a credit check. Now they will have to go to experian like everyone else!
