Hi, I have decided to take the plunge and try and work part time as a freelance trainer.

I have just signed up with a company who will give me some work. Where do I start?

general stuff for starting a business - an official government site so you can rely on the info here.

I don't know of a site with really good advice tailored to freelancers, but this one looks OK.

Have you registered with HMRC as self-employed? Have you decided whether to be a sole trader or to set up a company?

How about a website and or a blog.

You can advertise on gumtree for free.

What will you be training? I would like to get back into training I used to do some in one of my previous jobs. I would be training in accounting and tax and possibly soft skills.

I am planning to circulate my CV to local universities and colleges etc.
