Taking redundancy. Advice please.

I am negotiating with my employers about redundancy. I've been targeted for compulsory, but I think I may get a good deal, and so may go voluntarily -- provided I get one specific concession.
However, I am currently on maternity leave (I know, I know, they're b*stards) and very much resent the fact that the last week has been swallowed up with work and its attendant politics. After all, this is my own time: I'm now on Stat Mat pay, rather than company money. I've had to sort out childcare etc so I can attend their pesky meetings.
What do you reckon, shall I ask for paid compensation for the last week?

bump
(I should add, they'd much rather I went voluntarily, it looks much better, so I do have that advantage)

I have just been made redundant whilst on maternity leave (not that I'm bothered as I was handing my notice in anyway). They did all of mine over the phone I didn't need to do anything!

I would definately ask for some compensation if you are having to attend meetings in your own time either that say you have no one to look after your DD/DS and cannot attend the meetings.

my first instinct was definately - although if the good deal is better than compulsory you may not want to push too much?? You probably need to balance how much childcare you would get paid vs the deal on the table?

Feeling a bit pushy ATM, Bellie... may chance it. Can't believe it would be a dealbreaker.
Thankyou.

go for it - as I say my first instinct was to ask for it !! If it's not going to be a deal breaker push as hard as you can!!
