Fed up Social Worker

I am really fed up in my job and am thinking of leaving the profession altogether. Does anyone have any ideas for an alternative career? Has anyone left social work, what did you do?

Hmm..I left being a solicitor and have vague thoughts about maybe going into Social Work - but for now I am self-employed as a kilt maker. Slightly random but I can definitely recommend setting up your own business as an exciting and fun challenge. Course you have to come up with a business idea.

Have you no thoughts yourself yet of what you lean towards?

Not teaching, you'll be surprised how similar the role is!

I'd start by looking for inspiration on council job pages for anything with transferable skills.

I left social work for welfare rights (our council had a money advice unit that I got seconded to) and I have since left that to train to be an accountant.

Welfare rights was a good way to use my skills without being harassed all the time.

Charity sector? Again, using skills but without all the attendant pressure for targets etc.
