PLEASE EXPLAIN WHY YOU ARE APPLYING FOR THIS VACANCY AND HOW YOUR TRANSFERABLE SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND ACHIEVEMENTS ARE RELEVANT TO THE JOB: Because I really need the work, and I would like to work there as it is close to home, and it also is a lot lower level that what I was doing before so hopefully the shock of returning to work won't kill me.

Depends on the job you're applying for!
However transferable skills; oohh, now let me see... You have organisational skills, can multi-task, you can negotiate (think between arguing kids and buying insurance etc), financial acumen, accurate time-keeping (you get the kid(s) to school on time?!)...does that give you a few ideas?
