I have been recommended to use Childminders Agency in London has anybody ever used them? I in the past have used friends but most of ours also have young children and it is becoming increasingly difficult . Friday nights are one of our only nights to go out because dh works most of the others. I am really stressed out at the moment having just lost my father (I lost my mum 3 years ago) had a baby, moved house and am now trying to sell the family home which is really getting me down and I am also trying to juggle work and home. My relationship is suffering big time and if we don't try to spend some time together who knows what might happen. I live in South London and am desperate to get a good babysitter who I will feel happy to leave alone with dd( you hear so many horror stories these days). I have a wonderful childminder but she doesn't do babysitting , sorry for this sounding like such a sob story but I am getting really desperate can any one help?

Where in S London? I know some great nannies including mine who do babysitting. do any of your friends have a nanny or children in nursery where some of the nursery staff do babysitting? nannies are a real mafia and if you get in touch with one they all know dozens more.

calcium, there is a thread on this site discussing another agency called 'Sitters'. Just do a search on"sitters agency" or similar to get a few opinions if the search for a nanny isn't working/is taking too long. I've used them, thought they were good and would use them again. I'm in S London too although they are UK-wide.

Good luck with everything and a big hug too!

Childminders is great. I've used them periodically for 3 years, and have never gotten a bad babysitter. They all seem to have loads of experience-- teachers, nannies, nurses, or other occupations related to childcare. My friends who have used them also rave about them.

In fact, I'm going to use them for tomorrow night.

So call them, relax, and have a great time with your dh.

(By the way, if there's the slightest problem the babysitter will ring you on the mobile so try not to worry.)
