Job interview next week - working with children advice please

I have job interview next week and need the following:

up to date knowledge of Every Child MAtters and other Government Policy in relation to children and families

Knowledge of safeguarding procedures and policies

knowledge of the operation of the voluntary and statutory sector

Can anyone point me in the right direction for these so i can swot up

Look on your local council website for Every Child Matters - It shoudl put it into context for the borough you work in.

Lord Lamings report on the DFSC website as well as the Goverments response.

Pick a few key points - I read through it and never actually digested much. Try to apply it practically to the post you're applying for. Good luck!

I went for a job interview in December which asked for the same things as your vacancy. (admin role) I got the job and started in January.

Safeguarding policies and procedures will vary from area to area a bit.

Eg. Surrey Safeguarding Children Board

If you are in Surrey... then Surrey Safeguarding Children Board - they have SSCB Safeguarding Children (Child Protection) Procedure Manual available for download.

Its a student/family mentor in a high school

Ah, so the pre-school learning alliance won't be the best thing for you!

Can you pose as a parent and ask to see the high schools policies?

Or just be honest and ask them outright to view their policies. They may be pleased with the effort.

I did think of just asking them but wondered given that it is essential whether it will just highlight to them that I havent a clue

Yeah but racmac it shows just how eager you are to do the job and if they don't want you after all the effort you've put in, then they don't deserve you.
