Help me pick my day off!

I've got the jpb - hurrah! Occupational Health have advised that I do 3 days a week rather than 4 to start. I've said I'll work Wed/Thurs/Fri. As it's for my health that I have the extra day off, I've decided to treat myself to the boys going to nursery 3 1/2 days - in other words I'll have a half day completely to myself. So which half day should they go in?

Monday morning:
Think I'd waste it just recovering & tidying up from the weekend

Monday afternoon:
Would be fired up to do stuff, but it might be a bit disruptive to the boys to have bits and pieces of home and nursery

Tuesday morning:
Again, disruptive to the boys, plus if by chance the boys sleep late I'd feel cheated! But, they would have their afternoon naps as soon as I got them home - so it would be virtually the whole day to myself!

Tuesday afternoon:
not disruptive to the boys, but there is a children's church service that I'd really wanted to take them too. Plus the afternoon somehow seems shorter (even though it is more hours)

What do you think? (if you can bear to talk to me for being so lucky!)

i always had jess in on a monday morning.... never again!

i would go for tuesday morning.... then as you said, they will sleep in the afternoon.

i just had no motivation on a monday morning to get jess up and out and at nursery by 8am.... meant leaving at 7.10am and to be honest.... i was still in weekend mode!

Not Monday - you'll have to pay for bank holidays even if the nursery is shut.

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 19/07/2005 13:30

SD - what nursery are yours in? Ive never paid for a bank holiday!!!

Twiglett · 19/07/2005 13:31

Tues morning definitely .. wake them up and take them even if they're asleep

SoupDragon · 19/07/2005 13:32

It was a private day nursery in S London - you paid the same fees for 2 days even if one of your days was a bank holiday. They still had to pay staff etc.

SoupDragon · 19/07/2005 13:33

The boys being asleep won't worry you BTW - the thought of a morning off will spur you on to get them to nursery as soon as it opens.

Another vote for Tuesday morning.

I've paid for all the BH's nursery was shut - he only goes on a Monday morning. should have thought that through...

jessicaandbumpsmummy · 19/07/2005 13:35

strange how nursery's chang so much. i used a private kindergarten and they never charge for a BH....and half fees if jess wasnt in for whatever reason.

fisil · 19/07/2005 13:38

wow! thanks. That's fairly unanimous. You don't think it will feel a bit like bits and pieces to the boys - the tuesday morning?

my nursery also charges for monday holidays. But Mondays and fridays are nice and quiet as no-one wants them - so the babies get a lot of one to one attention.
Also find out what they do activity wise. My nursery takes the kiddies out for walks in the afternoons that my ds misses as he's in the mornings only.

fisil · 20/07/2005 14:41

Yes lockets - we must meet up soon. I start in mid August (working in August, what's all that about?), so it will have to be soon. Also I should pick your brains about primary, seeing as I think I'm going to be doing some work with transfer.

What did you think of the nursery? It would be fab if your dd1 went there too! Ds2 starts there on 10th August - I can't believe it, they're not all that small any more, are they?

I'll e-mail you about when to meet up

Oops check with your HR dept again as i think the law might have changed recently. I work middle 3 days and now get an extra 4 or 5 days holiday a year representing 3/5 of the total of BHs most of which I miss. Does this make any sense? Can't imagine my coy would do this unless they had to!
