How long for a CRB

For various reasons I need an enhanced CRB in a hurry. I know they take ages if done in Sept when all the teachers apply. Does anyone know how long I can expect to wait at the moment ?

I had one done a couple of weeks ago and was told approx 6 weeks

Usually 6 weeks or so. I've had one come through in 3 weeks though. However, you have no control over how long they take I'm afraid.

Thanks for your replies. I've got tutoring job inschool for one day a week. Previously I've been able to work as long as the application is in process, but it seems this is no longer an option.

It all seems alittle ridiculous when I worked for three years as teacher in my last school without ever being checked once !

My CRB was sent off at the beginning of January and has only just come through in the post yesterday.

Mine took about 2 months , for a school job.
