Car lease salary sacrifice and NHS maternity pay

I was wondering if anyone has experience of how entering in to a car lease salary sacrifice scheme could affect maternity pay.

I work for the NHS and my maternity entitlement would be 8 weeks at 90% pay and 18 weeks at 50% pay. Ideally i would take 1 year off and recieve SMP up to 9 months and nothing for the final 3 months.

My salary is approx 26k and i would be sacrificing approx £350 a month in return for a lease car over 3 years but make savings on tax, ni and pension contributions.

I have asked my employer for advice but as the scheme is quite new they have not come across this issue yet at have so far been unhelpful!

I had a smiliar thing when pregnant 2 yr ago with childcare vouchers from work which were a salary sacrifice.... they work out your mat pay at about week 19-24 so you'd be best to leave taking the lease car till after then. my trust has a childcare advisor (ask through personel) she was a hive of information.
