Freelance Writer - Advice needed please!

Hello! I've worked part time as a freelance writer for a few years (evenings and weekends only as I have 2 small children). I've mainly written educational materials such as textbooks and tutor resources.
However, I've been approached by a magazine to write for them, but for no fee (early days for the magazine, apparently)
Do you think this would be worthwhile? In the interests of a possible future career?
Not sure what to do..............

sorry, that sounded so rude, i apologise

i would do it, but make it clear that you are doing it as a one-off and normally would chrge them £x

Hiya this is quite normal for start-up magazines to expect new and unestablished writers to contribute for free, you do benefit as you get to build up a portfolio of articles, which will fingers crossed lead to more work in the medium to long-term! After all, prospective future employers will never know you did the piece for free, savvy?

So I would say do it, definitely, as long as it's relevant to what you want to do in the future.

MayorNaze, try the www.freelancewritersdatabase.co.uk
I also contacted some publishers such as Pearson (I'm in the childcare side of things)
