New job soon after maternity leave

Hi ladies!
I need some advice please; I'm due to return to work next week from a year of maternity leave. I've already played my flexible working hours card so that I don't work nights as I 'm still breast feeding but I'm still working shifts and consequently I'm finding childcare an expensive nightmare!

So, I've got a few promising interveiws lined up and I'm hopeful I'll get one but I'm worried that my current employer will be angry that I would be returning for literally a couple of weeks and then moving on. I'm also worried that this will effect any reference that they give me (although I've been a good worker).

Am I right to be concerned or is it just one of those things?

Any advice on how to handle it would be welcome.

x

Whats your current notice period for your existing employer? You will have to give that, unless they agree to waive it so in that sense you are no different from any other employee.

References are likely to be pure factual eg dates of working so certainly can't formally reflect any narked-ness at your decision.

I've handed my notice in a week after returning from ML.Had to work two more weeks, then took my remaining holidays and off I went to a much better job.

Didn't get a bigleaving present but otherwise I've no regrets

They can't give you a bad reference for that.
