Should my sandwiches be official?

I've just stumbled into a new "career" and would love some advice.

My DH works at an office on an industrial estate without any canteen facilites, so I make him a packed lunch to take with him. Some of his colleagues, youngish single guys have asked if I would make them a packed lunch, as no facilites nearby and too lazy to do their own. I'm currently a SAHM after being made redudant

So I've been making extra sandwiches and DH takes them with him and 2 colleagues have been paying £2 a day for my sandwiches. But now am concerned that this little sideline might have to be more official or can I just carry on what I'm doing. It's hardly Pret a Manger! But do I need to have kitchen inspected?? Haven't poisoned DH yet.

Any advice gratefully received.

If they are paying for your food then officially YES, your kitchen should be registered and therefore inspected bu environmental health. If its just a couple of youngish guys they are unlikely to make a fuss but the bigger the 'sideline' gets the more official it should be.

Officially yes.
Lots of people run food-prep companies from their home. (I'm thinking of people who have cup/wedding cake companies in their houses in home magazines. Their kitchens don't look industrial.)

I think it would be easy enough to adhere to H&S guidelines. Things like colour-coded chopping boards, stainless steel work surfaces, correct food storage etc.(Uncooked meat at bottom of fridge for example.)
Your local CAB or EHO will be able to help.

It sounds like a good business idea, if there's an industrial estate near you! Good luck.

Thanks for the advice will look into this further. Not sure how long this will last, as these blokes are v. fussy and may end up annoying me too much to continue!
