I just found out I am 5 weeks pregnant and work long shifts in a job that can be quite physical...

Tonights shift for example could see me having to move excercise machines and large televisions...

I know its before 12 weeks but should I just tell them I am pregnant???

I'm so worried! I'm panicking every moment as it is :p

I told my employers as soon as I found out for both pregnancies. I work in a toy shop and it is very physical work, getting the deliveries in etc. Best to tell them IMO.

Totally up to you whether you tell them yet.

When you do, though, they'll have to do a risk assessment and you may get taken off some of the nasty duties!

Can you tell them something else, like you have a bad back problem so you can't lift things?

RibenaBerry · 08/02/2010 16:22

No, no, please don't lie. Lying is a disciplinary offence, even if it's for a good reason. Plus, the risk assessment for a back injury won't be the same as for pregnancy (where there are other issues like hours, exhaustion, and specialist job issues like chemicals or x-rays). Either tell them or keep quiet completely for now.
