Anyone else facing threat or reality or redundancy?

Just found out on Friday that they're making 2 out of 6 of his office redundant and it's not looking good for him He's hardly off work but he is in the bottom 2 for time served.

I am going self employed soon was going to be p/t but might have to go full time. Just hope it all works out.

Is anyone else in the same boat? Or already dealing with it?

I was made redundant last September. I tried to be positive about it and didn't dwell on things too much. I actually used my time to go into my daughter's school as a volunteer just until something came up. Make sure your hubby signs on - £128.60 a fortnight is better than nothing. I signed on with several agencies and made sure I checked the local press every week and checked out any websites that did job alerts. I actuall found another job a couple of weeks ago. I was lucky really. I do think it is good to stay positive though and do something with your time, not just sit around and watch daytime TV (it is soooo easy to do that and get stuck in a rut).

Good luck - he may not even be made redundant yet - after all it is the job that is made redundant not the person.

Thanks boakleesk, glad to hear you found a job

He hasn't found out yet. His position is managerial so am hoping he can get a similar position should the worst come to the worst.

Luckily I'm a hairstylist/colourist and not bragging but very qualified so will get plenty of work, it's just I've only done friends and family for years since having children but I need to find new clients. It's just fear of getting back out there that's stopped me.

Anyway he should know soon they're starting talks on Wednesday.

You're right about staying positive, he's already planning on studying until he can find something.

It's good that he is staying positive - I think it is what kept me going, I looked on it as a good thing and not a bad thing. I know it is hard to do, but it worked for me. As for your business - just get yourself out there and you will find loads of clients - get each of your friends / family to recommend you to one person each and you have doubled your client base.

Good luck

Thanks again Yes word of mouth is the greatest advertising I've found. I'm going to get some cards printed so I can give them out, pin them in businesses.
