Does a 11 month old need EBM?

Hi,

I will be going back to work in March when my DS is 11 and a half months. He is currently BF and BLW. My question is does anyone have any experience of doing this and do you know if I will need to provide EBM for him?

Currently he is 10 months old and he does a few feeds during the day. He eats 3 meals but since he is BLW he could eat loads on one day and very little the next. Im wondering if I should start thinking about expressing, getting a pump, etc or whether he will be able to manage without breast milk for an entire day?

Im planning to work 3 days a week, and I just wondering if anyone could help with some advice please?

Thanks, will also post this under breast and bottle feeding.

I went back to work full time at 8 months. I expressed for about a month but DS wasn't really interested and was happy having some in the morning and when I got home. He'll have a bit during the day at weekends when I'm home but is generally happy during the day without it.

I expressed for DS from 10 months when he started nursery, until he was 12 months (just 1 feed a day). I only did it because the nursery wanted to be able to give him milk when all the others had it - I would have been perfectly happy for him just to have water. Anyway, most of the time it was a waste of time as he didn't drink it, which was very disheartening! At 12 months they switched over to cows milk, which he still doesn't drink really (probably 1/4 of the time he will have a couple of ozs, the rest of the time nothing).

I still breastfed (still do) morning and night.

Thanks for your replies. I was actually thinking that he would be happy with cows milk by the time I go to work. I just hope I do not have any engorgement.

Currently he is on 3 to 4 feeds between 9 and 5.30 but it could also just be due to the fact that Im around!

Good to know that I can continue feeding, do not want to stop just for work.
