so annoyed I am both employed and self employed a lot of my income comes from self employment I am told that I will get SMP from my employer but cannot claim MA for my self employment. Seems so unfair if both my jobs were under employment I would qualify for two lots of SMP.

Annoying but, as my mum says, sometimes life isn't fair!

Yes, if both of your jobs were employment you would get two lots of SMP (if you qualified), but someone with one full time job only gets one lot of SMP. If you had one job that qualified and one that didn't, you'd get one lot of SMP and no MA for the other job. It's really people who have two part time jobs who get a windfall as against everyone else.

On the other hand, you can work on a self-employed basis while receiving SMP...
