Leaving job to go self-employed - SMP

Hello, just wondering if anyone would know the answer to this question... if I handed in my notice while on maternity leave to start a new venture, when would my Stat Maternity Pay stop - at end of notice period, at end of SMP period or when I start making/registering any income from a new venture? (If and when)
Any tips would be really appreciated. Thanks.

SMP stops when you begin work again, whether employed or self employed unless you already had two jobs or were self employed and employed before you went on leave.

Self employed work is fine and won't affect your SMP. See last line of first section here. You don't need to have been self-employed previously.

Sorry, my info must be out of date. When I last looked it up in the employers booklet (admittedly a couple of years ago) it was different.

Not sure but you could try looking at www.direct.gov.uk. I found loads of useful information when I was looking up maternity pay for being self-employed.
