At risk of redundancy while on additional mat leave

I am currently on my Additional Mat Leave and a few months ago I was informed that my position was a the risk of redundancy on a meeting and by letter.

I had another meeting after that one where I confirmed that I wanted to come back to work after my AML and also that I was only interested in my current job.

We were meant to have another meeting after that one. However, I´ve just received an email confirming the next and final consultation meeting on the day I´m due to return to work. They don´t feel the need to meet again as I´ve confirmed that I want to go back. In addition they are advising that my position is still at the risk of redundancy and there is no more information they can give me at this point.

I´m a bit confused as they have been very vague and I´m not sure what to expect. I´m inclined to think that they´ll make me redundant as I believe that if that wasn´t the case they would tell me in advance. They´re aware I need to make nursery arrangements.

Please help! What do you think? Would you request more info before the meeting? Or just turn up and see what they have to say?

Thanks a lot

Erm, well if you've said you are only interested in your current job, what more do you expect to have meetings to discuss with them? They've had a meeting with you to discuss the fact that that job might be going, they've presumably listened to anything you had to say and now they're making the decision.

Unless there are issues about selection from a pool of jobs, I'm not sure that there is that much more to consult on. Further meetings are normally about things like alternative roles.

I agree though that it will be difficult re nursery arrangments. I would suggest that you contact them and ask whether it would be possible to bring the meeting forward so that you know where you stand before you have to make nursery plans and incur costs.

Hope that helps. Sorry if it was a bit blunt.

Hi RibenaBerry, thanks for your reply. I wasn´t aware that further meetings would be mainly to discuss further roles. I thought maybe they would give me an update on my role situation, the company etc.

I guess I just have to wait and see what happens next.

Thanks for your time.

There could be more meetings for that kind of thing, but mainly if there are lots of planned redundancies. Then there might be negotiations about pay freezes, overtime cuts, which site is closing, that type of thing.

Hope it works out for you.
