Solicitor looking for work`

I have recently returned from overseas with my husband and 12 month old. I qualified in 2000 and first worked in Med Neg. Due to my health i ended up working in the magistrates court as a court clerk for 4 years finshing in 2006. I am now looking at PI/Clin Neg and am midway through trying to target local firms with carefully researched covering letters etc. Perhaps i should look to in house or local authority.
I see the Women Solicitors group are doing a return to work course in Jan, I may go, as I am starting to think I may have to change my career. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks

If you want to go back into Med Neg, you will need to do some sort of return to work course, it is a tough market place.

I will gladly help you with your CV, source some firms, send you some interview tips, whatever. Strictly as a favour, firms aren't paying out for recruiters at the moment!

Thanks very much lizzy that is very kind of you. I actually feel let down by recruitment agents, and keep getting conflicting advice! I have been to a career consul paid by the job centre he advised sending out a profile with covering letter and following up with a phone call. Was going to do it in the new year

Here's the NHS jobs website doesn't seem to have much there at the moment though, one in Salford and one in Devon/Exeter?

Hi everyone, just joined Mumsnet. I LOVE the logo! I too am a solicitor attempting to rejoin the profession. 14 years and 5 children later (but with various lecturing and complaints work here and there) I am looking for a return to work course. In Northern Ireland where I live I can only do short CPD courses. The AWS website did not have details of any upcoming courses. Is there one somewhere in January? Thank you.
