Has anyone ever used a networking organisatin like BNI or BRX to increase business?

And if so and with what results?

I have just joined BNI and whilst I enjoy the meetings and find them fun and stimulating it is an outlay and a time commitment and I wonder how succesful it actually is in generating business. The majority of the people there are either tradespeople ( plumbers /electricians) or service people ( financial consultatns etc) and my business - legal services - is more of a slow burn than a quick referral here and there.

So, has anyone ever used BNI or someting similar and found it increaesd the bottom line or alternatively found it a waste of time or money?

Just bookmarking as I'm interested in this too. I've joined my local Chamber but wasn't very impressed.

A friend recommeded a business networking group (can't remember the name) and said he had a lot of work out of it. He's an accountant. I'm considering joining up but share your concerns about whether there would be any demand for my services - marketing.

I'm interested to hear how you get on.

Out of interest what are the two networks you are talking about, I don't think I've ever heard of BRX.
