Problems finding child care for two days of mandatory training

My role is changing (ish) and I have got to have 2 days training which has to happen in December .

They have reasonably given me 3 dates to choose from and for once given me more than two days notice .
I have managed to find someone to look after my boys who are 3 and 5 so a lot of toing and froing to pre school and school but I have now realised that one of the days falls on a hospital appointment for my eldest .

I have no idea how I can get someone to look after them on the other chosen days , this is why I work on weekends so I don't have to worry about childcare .

So the point of this ramble is

As they are saying it is mandatory training , can they get rid of me if I can't make any of the dates offered ?

TIA

what days does your contract say you could be asked to work?

have you tried putting an add on your local netmumssite? i have had a good response to this is the past for emergency childcare.

Lots of possibilities.

Call your local council and ask for the ten closest registered childminders to your post code, and then hit the phone.

What about partner/mum/sisters/best friend? In an emergency can any of them take a half day off work?

Call the appointment co-ordinator at the clinic and explain the problem. Emphasise the risk to your job. She should be able to change the appointment for you.

In the middle of a recession, it's not worth risking your job over.

Do you have a partner who could take leave?
Could you rearrange the hospital appointment?
Do you have any friends who would do you a favour?
