Any locum doctors or nurses out there?

Hello there, wonder if anyone can help.

As a locum doctor or nurse, when you register with an agency, does the agency always interview you?

Or do you simply register with details of all your qualifications, proof of ID etc, and then if a suitable post comes along it is offered to you?

If there is an interview, is it a long, in-depth one or a fairly quick formality?

Thank you for any help!

Depends on the agency. I registered with 2 or 3 agencies during my child free nursing days. I think I had one interview, quite long and in depth the others were just form filling, references and you were on the books. Is there an agency you have in mind?

Thanks for your reply. No, I'm just doing some research. The impression I get is that not all nursing staff get interviewed; I wonder if anyone knows about doctors?

Will ask DH when he gets home if you like.

DH was certainly never interviewed for the 2 different medical locum agencies he was registered with. He had to have references and prove that he was a GP, obviously, but they never met face to face as far as I know!

Thanks Weegiemum and Mcdreamy - very helpful

Also can anyone tell me who they think is the biggest / best agency for locum work?

Thank you

My DH used Locums 123 the most - not so much an agency as a messaging service. He got lots of work through it and now works for a practice that he initially got work at through them.

Nursing - the one that paid the most best one was Thornbury, don't know if they still exist!
